Molly’s Place can be found on a quiet side street just a two-minute walk from the beach within the pretty seaside town of Filey on the beautiful North Yorkshire coastline. This pet friendly holiday home is perfect for couples or a small family wishing to enjoy a seaside break. It offers comfortable accommodation throughout with a separate dining room, living room with two deep filled sofas and a Smart TV and a galley style kitchen with electric oven and hob, washing machine and slow cooker. There is plenty of work top space for preparing a hearty Yorkshire breakfast before heading out for the day or perhaps a delicious picnic to enjoy on the beach. Continue on through the kitchen to the house bathroom which offers a bath with shower over. Retire on an evening to the first floor and find two very pretty bedrooms, a king-size double with dual windows and a twin room. Both bedrooms offer bed knob and broomstick style beds and lovely soft furnishings. From the kitchen step outside into the enclosed courtyard where you’ll find additional seating and a storage box with beach chairs and beach toys which have been provided by the owner for your enjoyment. There is even a charcoal BBQ for the warmer summer months.
With its glorious sweep of soft, golden sand, Filey beach is one of the best in the country for families; it’s so huge that, no matter how busy it gets, it’s never crowded! The beach is the perfect place to take a walk, fly a kite, build a sandcastle, snooze in a deckchair, or maybe do a spot of birdwatching on Filey Brigg and the town centre offers a plethora of tea rooms, restaurants and pubs as well as a host of convenience stores and independent shops. Further up the coast are the bustling harbour towns of Bridlington and Scarborough.
Enjoy a day visiting rspb Bempton Cliffs or head off inland and enjoy the unspoilt rolling hills of the Yorkshire Wolds. Enjoy exploring the stately homes of Sewerby Hall and Gardens, Sledmere House, Burton Agnes Hall and the iconic Castle Howard. The North Yorkshire Moors National Park is under an hour’s drive away and the historic walled City of York is just waiting to be explored. Molly’s Place is an ideal base for your Yorkshire holiday.

We were very disappointed with the level of cleanliness and maintenance of the accommodation. The property was advertised as having 2 TV’s, however there was only one. This was not a major issue for us but just wondered what had happened to the second TV.Parking was also an issue.The house did smell very damp and musty, particularly the cupboard off the living room. It was obvious that efforts had been made to mask the smell by the use of diffusers around the house which just added to the overwhelming bad aroma.I don’t know what the responsibility of the cleaning company is but the amount of clutter and artificial flowers on every surface obviously hinders the dusting and cleaning process.On arrival there were crumbs on one of the sofas and the living room floor. The sofas were very dirty. I vacuumed the living room, however the smell from the vacuum cleaner was particularly bad. It had obviously not been emptied for months. Once I had emptied it the smell remained (dog smell) which added to the overall bad smell of the property. I then wiped the dirt off one of the sofas which came off easily with a damp cloth.A lot of the cutlery and crockery were also dirty. I washed some which we then used throughout our stay but did not wash all of it.The bathroom shower screen was very mouldy and needed a good clean as did the bathroom sink overflow. There was also a bad smell from the sink in the bathroom and kitchen and a slug problem in the kitchen.The whole house was dusty and full of cobwebs, from walls to light fittings and underneath and behind furniture, also what I think is a medicine syringe under the wardrobe in the main bedroom.The front door was badly fitting and often difficult to close and lock.On Friday morning I opened the living room curtains and the large round metal finial on the curtain pole flew off hit me on the head and bounced across the room. This left me with a large lump on the head and triggered an ocular migraine. This could have had very serious consequences.I rang to report this as I was also concerned that other people may be booked in following us and this needed to be repaired to prevent any further injuries.I was told that someone would “reach out to me” following my injury but so far no one has contacted me.I am aware that the house has recently been sold so not sure where the responsibility lies but I have serious concerns about the cleanliness and safety of the accommodation.I notice that until recently there have been really good reviews for Molly’s Place and it is a shame that I cannot add to those good reviews.The poetic description of the property certainly does not reflect the actual accommodation and seems to be an example of misleading advertising. I would certainly not advise booking this accommodation in its current state.The property was close to the shops, beach and several takeaways.

On arriving we opened the door to a really bad damp smell . On first impression it looked clean but on further inspection there was debris and cobwebs at the back and under the furniture. It really needs some serious attention. The tv was a mine field took us hours to figure out it out. We noticed it was sold so maybe that’s way things were not good. Bed was comfy kitchen was ok but the house was very cluttered with furniture and niknacs everywhere. The dinning room was so dull and dark and your on view to everyone who walks past. Would I recommend again No it really needs to be looked at if it’s to be let in the future.

A little bit dated and the front of the house not the prettiest, but the location is brilliant. The amenities they have are fantastic , if you have children. Couldn’t get the living room telly to change channel from BBC 1 but it might have just needed new batteries. And if you are looking for the freezer it’s in the cupboard in living room ( we didn’t find it for 2 days 🤣). All in all would definitely return.
