Enjoy your morning coffee at the dining table and talk over what the day ahead will bring and where to explore next, before preparing a picnic lunch to eat later. On a rainy afternoon, collapse on the sofa and tune into the TV to catch up on your favourite shows. When it's time to get some rest, freshen up in the bathroom before making yourself at home in the bedroom, complete with a double bed and storage space. Filey is an exceptional holiday base; pack your beach bag and head down to the glorious sands, perfect for dipping your toes in the sea or simply soaking up the rays, before taking a stroll along the coastline towards Filey Brigg, a low headland protecting Filey Bay, making for a superb opportunity to catch glimpses of the local wildlife – maybe catch a crab or two for dinner! Enjoy a stroll along the promenade with its brightly coloured beach huts and ornamental gardens before stopping off at a restaurant or takeaway to refuel; there’s plenty to choose from! Just outside the town lies a country park with an animal sanctuary nearby, whilst for walkers, Filey marks the start of the Cleveland Way long distance trail. Those nature lovers will be drawn to the RSPB Reserve at Bempton, home to puffins and kittiwakes clustered on the high cliffs. Filey, a fishing community on the North East Coast, has a long history as a resort town thanks to its idyllic location next to Filey Bay, a long stretch of lovely beach, and Filey Brigg and its shallow rockpools to the north. A low headland that guards Filey Bay, Filey Brigg offers excellent year-round opportunities for marine and bird watching. Over 250,000 seabirds spend the summer at the 400-foot-tall Bempton Cliffs (rspb Reserve) south of Filey Bay. There are nesting sites for gannets, kittiwakes, puffins, guillimots, and razorbills. In Filey Bay, gannets are frequently spotted diving for fish. It is easy to spot both common and uncommon waders, seabirds, and migrant warblers, finches, and thrushes in the Brigg area. Seabirds, seals, and other marine creatures including minke whales, porpoises, and dolphins can all be seen in the sea near the Brigg. The town itself possesses a retro-feel thanks to its unique stores, winding lanes, and ginnels, which give it a retro vibe.
