Cobblers Cottage is praised for its excellent location, beautiful garden, and comprehensive equipment. Guests appreciate the secure garden for pets and the property's proximity to local attractions. While some maintenance issues are noted, the cottage's charm and potential for a delightful stay are evident.
The property is generally found to be very clean, with one review specifically complimenting the cleanliness. However, there are mentions of a musty smell upon arrival and a random towel left in the washer, slightly affecting the score.
The cottage's location is highly regarded, with guests appreciating its proximity to seaside towns, good walks, and local amenities. The secure garden is a bonus for those with pets.
Comfort is somewhat compromised by reports of a lack of heating and seating for four people. However, the secure garden for pets and the presence of an electric heater in the main bedroom are positive aspects.
Facilities are adequate with some issues noted, such as problems with the toilet cistern, lack of a working tumble dryer, and inefficient heating. The well-equipped kitchen and the initial provision of fuel are positives.
There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the management. Therefore, this category cannot be scored, and guests should not expect such amenities as standard.

The cottage was cold and needed airing. The cottage was advertised as having a tumble dryer- there wasn't one - there was an old washer/dryer but the dryer functions had been blacked out by marker pen. There was also a random towel left in the washer. The cottage was also advertised as including fuel and advertised central heating and a heated towel rail. Neither was available unless you had the fire on as it uses a back boiler to heat the radiators; with only a starter pack, we could only heat the house for 2 days and without the radiators in the lounge, despite temperatures outside of 16c, it was freezing. Without a heated towel rail, the towels soon became damp smelling and constantly damp. Luckily there was an electric heater in the main bedroom although there was a strange constant dripping noise coming from the locked cupboard which we couldn't trace as there doesn't appear to be any pipes going into that room. The swing in the garden was filthy and didn't look like it had been cleaned since the winter. I gave it a good scrub with hot soapy water so we could use it, but I shouldn't have had to - I have before and after photos if you want them. The garden was pretty and secluded, although the lawn hadn't been mowed. The cottage was nicely located for the various seaside towns, good walks, the #12 coaster bus stops and the pub. The suggestion book was full, so couldn't add any suggestions, but I would replace the old back boiler with a new combi boiler in the bathroom cupboard which would negate the need for a water tank and having to use the immersion heater; it would also give on demand heating and hot water and would be likely cheaper to run. There should be a wok or larger frying pans, some items were not particularly clean. Some Sykes cottages we have stayed in have provided welcome baskets with tea/coffee/milk and biscuits or cakes - that would be nice, particularly in this price bracket. The cottage should sleep 4 with two bedrooms, but there is insufficient seating in the lounge for 4 and not much room for 2, tbh. The furniture is old and not very comfortable. Both the front and back door locks/handles need replacing and the outside light at the back door didn't work.

Quantity of fuel only just sufficient for cold November particularly as there was no working heating/towel rail in chilly bathroom and the electric wall heater in kitchen was not working. The two-hour limit set on the hot water switch must help control heating costs but can be irritating for guests. The h/w system installed and the positioning of its header tank makes for a risible trickle of hot water in the bathroom h/w/b.. The range of kitchen glassware/crockery was impressive but for the very first time in a rental property we had to buy our own corkscrew!
