Guests appreciate the well-equipped facilities, thoughtful touches, and the property's charm and spaciousness. The welcoming atmosphere and the occasional mention of gifts add to the positive experience, although these are not guaranteed.

Reviews frequently highlight the property's cleanliness, describing it as 'spotless' and 'well-kept'. The high level of cleanliness contributes significantly to guests' overall satisfaction.

The property's location is highly regarded, with guests appreciating its proximity to Pickering, the North York Moors, and coastal attractions. The quiet, peaceful setting and local amenities like a pub enhance the location score.

Comfort is a strong point for Dairy House, with guests finding the property cosy and the beds comfortable. The presence of a downstairs bedroom for those with disabilities is also noted. A few minor suggestions for improvement do not detract from the overall comfort.

The property is well-equipped with a variety of amenities, including a utility room and a well-stocked kitchen. Some guests suggest minor improvements to the shower and dining facilities, but these do not significantly impact the overall positive feedback on the property's facilities and maintenance.

As such, it is not possible to accurately score thoughtfulness based on the available information. It should be noted that while such gestures are appreciated, they are not guaranteed.

About this property

A quality sympathetic conversion of an old stone farm building, resulting in an individual holiday home of great character and comfort.

With an exceptionally high standard of furnishing and equipment, this cottage nestles high on the moors in a quiet National Park village above Newtondale where the steam trains whistle below.

In the 19th century, the property housed a horse driven threshing machine and more recently it became a dairy and features a unique stone fireplace, along with massive timber beams, which may have come from oaks in Newtondale or from ships broken up at Whitby.

Ecologically aware, Dairy House offers spacious accommodation over two floors with three bedrooms, a bathroom and a shower room, and provides a light and airy feel, whilst it also feels cosy in winter.

Footpaths nearby wander through wild flower pastures, beautiful woodlands and on to the moors. Cyclists can enjoy gentle meanders or challenging banks and a few miles away, Dalby Forest offers mountain biking trails for all levels.

Enjoy a steam railway ride, which takes you up the valley and across the moors to the coast - one of the most spectacular railway journeys in Britain.

A delightful cottage offering peace and tranquillity.

The unspoiled village of Newton-upon-Rawcliffe is on the southern fringe of the North York Moors National Park and is a typical English village, with old stone cottages and farms clustered around the village green and duck pond. The area has an abundance of wildlife and the countryside is varied and offers wonderful walking and touring opportunities. Amongst the many attractions in the area are the majestic abbeys of Byland and Rievaulx, the town of York and the magnificent Castle Howard. The nearby historic market town of Pickering is home to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, England's longest steam railway, and has a variety of shops, art galleries and eateries. With its many activities and attractions, this is a fabulous area for a family holiday.

It's a bit of a quirky cottage. Bigger than we expected and extremely well equipped. The log fire's surround is definitely a talking piece. All the wooden beams give it a lot of character. One of the nicest cottages we have stayed in.

Very comfortable and homely with a really well equipped kitchen. We really wanted to light the log burner but the property is so well insulated that it would have been too hot. We especially loved the lounge, so cosy and full of character.

They look smaller in the pictures than they are. We used the two double rooms, which were very comfy. The whole house was nicely cleaned. There's some very interesting decor to enjoy. Lots of helpful information of where to go. It wasn't a problem with no gate on the garden, because our dog is use to being on his lead.
