Guests have enjoyed the charming and well-equipped Old Methodist Chapel, praising its comfortable furnishings, spaciousness, and suitability for groups. The picturesque village setting and proximity to walking trails and local amenities like pubs and cafes add to its appeal. Some guests have experienced minor issues but overall, the property has provided a delightful stay.
The property generally appears to be well-kept, with several guests commenting on its comfort and cosiness. However, a few reviews mention cleanliness issues such as cobwebs and dust, suggesting room for improvement in this area.
The location is highly praised for its beauty and convenience for walking and exploring the North Yorkshire Moors & Coast. The village's charm and the property's central position for trips to the coast are frequently mentioned as highlights.
Many reviews describe the property as comfortable, welcoming, and cosy, with good-sized bedrooms and living spaces. Some guests mention issues with bed linen and the steepness of stairs, but overall, the comfort level is rated highly.
The property is well-equipped with modern appliances and a kitchen that satisfies keen chefs. However, there are several mentions of maintenance issues such as problematic door locks, a freezer needing defrosting, and a hazardous washing machine seal. These indicate that while facilities are generally good, there is a need for better upkeep.
Guests have appreciated thoughtful touches like welcome champagne and shortbread, as well as the provision of local information. While these gestures are well-received, it is important to note that such gifts are a bonus and may not be a consistent offering.
A fabulous, unique conversion of a Victorian chapel, in the pretty village of Rosedale Abbey, in the heart of the North York Moors National Park. Occupying the front section of the building, this alternative cottage has been lovingly renovated, combining character features with modern amenities, with tall arched windows, exposed timbers, stripped pine doors and a cast iron and marble fireplace. A beautiful spacious kitchen with exposed stonework and shutters provides a very sociable cooking and dining area, whilst the charming sitting room boasts a cosy open fire, ideal for cooler evenings. With sweeping views towards Chimney Bank, this cottage is set amidst breathtaking scenery, yet within easy reach of the bustling market towns of Kirkbymoorside, Pickering and Helmsley.
Rosedale Abbey provides a village shop, tea room and two village inns and is an ideal base for exploring the stunning heather clad moors. For golf enthusiasts, a number of excellent courses are in the vicinity, whilst an easy drive brings you to the popular seaside resorts of Whitby and Scarborough. A superb cottage, all year round.

The views and outside space was lovely to relax. The chapel is great, shared with 3 friends, able to have a bedroom each. The facilities are great and well equipped for cooking. Very comfortable for the couple of nights we were there. The owner very helpful with information prior to arrival. The booking process was easy through Sykes cottages, very grateful for the discount given by using a Blue Light card for emergency workers, however this was wiped out by the booking fee of £42.00 which I thought was very high, I would be reluctant to book through Sykes cottages again because of this.

Beautiful village & great view! Very well equipped with everything you could possibly need for a home from home. Great base for exploring & lots to see & do in the area.

We were 2 families meeting up and the property was perfect for this. I can't really fault anything at all. Mark was very friendly and helpful despite early misunderstanding (no ones fault). Will definitely be back.
