The Old Cart House receives high praise for its stunning location, spaciousness, and the charm of being on a working farm with friendly animals. Guests appreciate the ample space for large groups, the effective heating, and the well-equipped kitchen. The surrounding views and peacefulness are consistently highlighted, alongside the warm welcome from the owners.
Guests consistently describe the property as clean and well-maintained, with only minor mentions of cobwebs which are understandable given the rural, farm setting. The overall impression is of a spotless and comfortable environment.
The location is highly praised for its beauty and tranquillity, with stunning views and a peaceful atmosphere. It serves as a great base for exploring the moors and nearby villages. The presence of farm animals adds to the charm, although one review mentioned limited access to public footpaths.
The property is described as comfortable and spacious, suitable for large parties and family gatherings. Some guests suggested that the mattresses could be improved, but overall, the accommodation is considered cosy and welcoming.
Facilities are generally well-regarded, with a well-equipped kitchen and effective heating. However, some guests noted the need for sharper knives and a larger fridge. The Wi-Fi is appreciated, especially given the lack of mobile reception. Some minor maintenance issues were mentioned, such as the need for additional bathrooms for large groups.

A delightful semi-detached barn conversion situated on a traditional hill farm in Farndale. Boasting a large farmhouse kitchen with a delightful sitting and dining area, open fire and exposed beams in the second sitting room, The Old Cart House provides superb accommodation. Walkers and mountain bikers will be spoiled for choice with bridleways, tracks and footpaths through magnificent open moors and countryside. The towns of Kirkbymoorside, Pickering, and picturesque Hutton-le-Hole are also all within easy reach. The perfect location for a wonderful holiday. Note: The Old Cart House can be booked with Ref 1391, together they sleep 16.
The beautiful valley of Farndale is in the North York Moors National Park, with the old Rosedale Ironstone Railway winding around the northern end of the dale and two small communities at Low Mill and Church Houses. Farndale is famous for the spectacular carpet of wild daffodils in the springtime and approximately 35,000 people come to see this amazing sight. The ancient market town of Kirkbymoorside is 10 miles away and has a good selection of shops and eateries. Pickering is 17 miles away and is home to the North York Steam Railway with trains running to Grosmont. Hutton-le-Hole is close by and home to the Ryedale Folk Museum, which is a worthwhile visit. This is a fabulous area for a holiday.
