Guests say

The Arches is a well-received cottage offering stunning views, a peaceful atmosphere, and a warm welcome. Guests appreciate the beautiful location, the proximity to local pubs, and the presence of farm animals. While some minor issues with facilities and comfort are noted, the overall experience is one of relaxation and enjoyment in a picturesque setting.

The cottage is generally described as clean and tidy. There is a single mention of a dishwasher with dirty water left by a previous tenant, but this seems to be an isolated incident rather than a trend.

The location scores highly with guests praising the breathtaking views, peaceful surroundings, and proximity to local attractions and pubs. The scenic and remote setting is consistently highlighted as a major positive aspect.

Comfort is well-regarded, with mentions of a cosy cottage and lovely beds. However, there are comments about uncomfortable mattresses and a need for better seating arrangements in the lounge, suggesting room for improvement.

Facilities are generally good, with some guests wanting for nothing. However, there are several mentions of the kitchen needing more pans and cooking utensils, and a few comments about the bathroom needing updates, which affects the score.

Guests mention a warm welcome and thoughtful touches like a welcome basket with wine and biscuits. While these gifts are appreciated, it's important to note that such amenities are subject to change and may not be guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

A superb, semi-detached barn conversion situated on a traditional hill farm in Farndale, two miles from Low Mills. Lovingly renovated with many features such as an arched window in the sitting room, exposed beams, and an open fire, The Arches offers superb accommodation decorated and furnished to an excellent standard. Walkers can step out from the farm into the open countryside and enjoy the many footpaths and trails, and mountain bikers are well catered for with the numerous tracks and bridleways. Kirkbymoorside, Hutton-le-Hole and Helmsley are all also within easy reach. A perfect base for a relaxing holiday. Note: The Arches can be booked with Ref 1392, together they sleep 16.

The stunning valley of Farndale is in the North York Moors National Park and in spring there is a spectacular display of daffodils along the side of the River Dove. The fields are divided by ancient dry stone walls and the narrow lanes wind around the spectacular valley. The lovely old market town of Kirkbymoorside is 10 miles away and has a good selection of shops and restaurants as well as a market every Wednesday, when the stalls are set out on the charming cobbled streets. Pickering is home to the North York Steam Railway and trains run from here to Grosmont along an 18-mile stretch of glorious countryside. Walkers have many trails and footpaths to follow and this is a fabulous area for a holiday at any time of the year.

Surrounded by countryside and all the resident animals, an animal lovers paradise. A bottle of fizz, milk and bread on arrival was much appreciated. The owners are very friendly, came round to check if everything was ok on arrival, and were always there with a cheery wave whenever we saw them. Definitely will not be our last visit.

Been 5 times now. The view is amazing. It's lovely to sit and look at the views and watch the comings and goings of the farm. Would love to return again.
