This building has been lovingly restored from its former role as a stone barn and now provides upside-down accommodation to take advantage of the southern aspect. The beamed, sloping ceilings of the living area with French doors that open onto the balcony makes this a property full of period character. There is also a garden with table and chairs. The amenities of Helmsley, Kirkbymoorside and Pickering are all close by, making this a well-placed cottage for a peaceful holiday in North Yorkshire.

Open air markets on a Wednesday in Kirkbymoorside and on a Friday in Helmsley market square. Pub 1 mile. Note: Children are not accepted at this property.

Around and About

Three miles from the historic market and castle towns of Helmsley and Kirkbymoorside is the small, pretty village of Nawton. Lined with stone built cottages, the main street through the village has an excellent pub which serves food, a fish and chip shop and a pub that has been converted into an Indian restaurant. Set amidst the stunning countryside of the North York Moors, the area is full of great walking opportunities whilst the nearby towns of Helmsley and Kirkbymoorside provide great shopping with their wealth of quaint tea rooms, individual shops, galleries and good restaurants. The market town of Pickering is just 10 miles away and hosts not only Pickering castle but also the North York Moors Steam Railway. The region also hosts a huge number of stately homes and gardens including those of Castle Howard, Duncombe House and Park, Rievaulx Abbey, Nunnington Hall.

The North York Moors National Park covers 554 square miles, with landscape ranging from heather-clad moorland and deep secluded dales, to the cliffs and coves of the magnificent coastline making it a haven for walkers.
