Dating back to the 18th century, this enchanting barn conversion, adjacent to the owners’ home, stands at the edge of the Georgian town of Richmond, enjoying magnificent views towards Richmond Castle. There are good riverside and woodland walks from the door, including Wainwright’s famous ‘Coast to Coast’ walk. The Yorkshire Dales National Park is nearby. Within easy reach are many historic houses to visit, or you could always have a day at the races at either Catterick, Ripon or Thirsk. The coast is also within easy reach for a day out (approximately 1 hour’s drive). An ideal holiday base. Shops ½ mile, inn serving real ale within 200 yards. There is convenient off-road parking outside the property next to the owners’ garden.

I enjoyed four nights here early October. It was an ideal base, with easy parking, only a 10-minute walk into Richmond - and the unexpected bonus was the view of the castle, whether bathed in morning sunshine, or lit up at night. The property was comfortable and immaculately clean, well laid out and furnished, with lots of thoughtful little extras, and had fresh flowers in nearly every room. I needed some guidance with using the induction hob, but the owners nextdoor were always helpful and friendly. Would recommend.

Sweet, charming cottage - only drawback was quite small shower room, but overall superb value for money. Would certainly return. Wife particularly enjoyed exceedingly comfortable beds and bedding.
