Guests say

Ty Christian is a quaint and cosy cottage appreciated for its homely feel, enclosed garden, and suitability for dogs. Guests enjoy the rustic charm, log fire, and peaceful setting, with some mentioning a friendly host. The location is ideal for exploring nearby towns and the coast, with some guests loving the proximity to New Quay and Cardigan. While some guests encountered issues, the positive aspects of character and location are often highlighted.

Several guests reported cleanliness issues, including leftover food in the fridge, mould, dust, cobwebs, and insects. However, one review mentioned the property as 'very clean', indicating inconsistency in cleaning standards.

The cottage is praised for its quiet, peaceful location and proximity to the coast and small towns. Some guests noted the need for a car due to the rural setting. The lane's condition was a concern for one guest.

Guests found the beds comfortable and the cottage cosy, especially with the log fire. However, some mentioned issues with heating, uncomfortable seating, and a lack of hot water, suggesting room for improvement in overall comfort.

The cottage is described as well-appointed and equipped for family meals, but several guests reported problems with appliances, hot water, and general maintenance. The small TV and seating were also points of contention.

The host's communication is noted as friendly and attentive, with mentions of fresh eggs being delivered. However, it should be noted that such gifts may not be guaranteed for all stays.

I thought very carefully about what to say in this review.First the good: we really liked the cottage itself - it had the sort of character we like.Second the not so good: the photos are rather deceptive - the property is amongst others, in fact the nearest is exactly opposite on the other side of the lane....and this was the reason we left after one night!Thirdly, and still on not so good: the heating was not working. We woke up to a very chilly cottage - all the radiators had notices warning against fiddling with them. The owner has told us that she tried to phone us the evening we arrived, and would have instructed us how to turn them on.....Which brings me to Fourthly (and still bad!): the internet was not working - the owner warned us before we went it was 'not working properly', we thought perhaps it was working 'a bit', but no it was dead.....and with it the phone too!Now to the reason we left after just one night: the person in the cottage opposite I mentioned above went out and left his two dogs to bark loudly (so loud that with all the windows and doors closed and my noise-cancelling headphones on I could still hear it!) We stood it for a few hours, but it didn't stop......so we up and left. Not really the owners fault, but something to bear in mind.....this is not necessarily the haven of tranquility one might imagine. The owner has not offered any refund....we have not asked for one.

We loved our stay at Ty Christian, it was perfect for the dogs and very homely. It was pretty cold while we were there but there were plenty of logs for the fire and the electric blanket was fabulous. Plenty of info about where to go and what restaurants. We will definitely be returning.

Overall it was ok but there were a few problemsOn arrival we unpacked the car and started to put food away in the fridge when opening the fridge a pack of burgers half a carrot and some frozen fish greeted us obviously left by previous occupants also around the freezer flap there was black mould but apart from that the kitchen was well appointed. There is a problem with the tap over the kitchen sink it constantly drips and when you run the hot water it just dribbles so takes 10 mins to fill the bowlOnce we had settled down for the evening the house was absolutley freezing and all the radiators had notes on saying dont touch the settings on them as they come on by timer whilst pondering what to do the owner rang to see if we had settled in ok.Told them we were cold and they told us the radiators were turned off and needed switching on so once we knew that it was warmThe single bed had no pillow cases on the pillows the double bedroom duvet was very lacking in filling and the throw on top smelt fustyThe TV is very small and the seating is not very comfortableWe love the surrounding area and the spectacular coast and really enjoyed watching the Dolphins at New QuayOverall the property was ok but there are a few things let it down
