Tucked away in this beautiful corner of North Yorkshire, nestled between the market town of Leyburn and just beyond the iconic bridge on the entrance to the pretty town of Middleham, Fieldfare Lodge is suited to a couple seeking to explore the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Boasting an elegant, country style, guests will be welcomed into a charming open-plan living space, with a woodburning stove at its heart to warm you on cool evenings. Sink into one of the armchairs before the fire, or open out the folding dining table when you want to impress your other half with a romantic meal for two, prepared in the compact yet amply-equipped fitted kitchen. Open up the door from the kitchen onto the beautiful enclosed garden, a lovely space to relax on a warm day, with a pond and flower beds along with a raised terraced seating area, shared with the owners. Explore the incredible Middleham Castle, a 12th century fortress that was the childhood home of Richard III, pack a picnic and explore the various chambers of these expansive ruins, offering a lovely day out. Sample the pubs and restaurants in the nearby town of Leyburn too, or head up to Richmond further afield to see the River Swale Waterfalls, Richmond Castle, The Green Howards Museum and lots more. Resting in the midst of the beauty of North Yorkshire, lying just below the River Ure, is the Wensleydale town of Middleham. Renowned for its history and race horses, Middleham is home to a Norman castle dating back to 1190, with only the Tower of London surpassing its castle keep in size. Cobbled streets and and the market square present several places to eat including cafés and restaurants as well as pubs and shops. The market town of Leyburn is within easy reach as well as the Yorkshire Dales National Park for a host of excellent walks.
