The bright lounge houses two comfortable sofas and an open fire in a feature chimney breast, while the stylish kitchen has ample space for the large dining table and cooking amenities. Known for its landmark ruined castle and imposing viaduct over the River Nidd, the town’s medieval streets house quirky shops, cafes and tearooms. The leafy Nidd Gorge below the viaduct is a lovely spot for picnics and walks or boat trips along the river. Visit Beningbrough Hall (7 miles), a Georgian gem housing artworks and antiques, with eight acres of beautiful gardens, a wilderness play area for children and plants for sale. Historic York has a wealth of splendid sights, from the magnificent Gothic Minster and city walls to the National Railway Museum.
