Guests say

Wellgate is a cosy and well-equipped cottage in a quiet area, praised for its comfortable beds and warm atmosphere. Guests have enjoyed the local pub and scenic walks. Some issues with maintenance and communication were noted, but the property's charm and location are well-regarded.

The cottage was described as clean by guests. However, one review mentioned that a pre-clean and restock hadn't entirely happened before their arrival, which was promptly addressed once reported.

The location is appreciated for its quietness, proximity to a friendly local pub, and great walks. Parking is noted to be challenging, and there was an issue with water contamination in the village.

Guests found the beds very comfortable and the cottage cosy and warm. One review mentioned a tight second bedroom and an uncomfortable situation with the toilet and radiator.

The cottage is well-equipped, with a good oven and powerful shower. However, there were several maintenance issues reported, such as a broken shower door and a stable door that collapsed.

There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the owners. Therefore, this category cannot be scored.

Lovely cute cottage, beautifully furnished, local art work dotted around. Kitchen well equipped. Yes the downstairs toilet is small so drape a towel over the radiator when heating on. No parking just dropping off but the village was quiet when we stayed so not an issue. No shop in the village so bring anything you need with you. The local walks are lovely and it was a great getaway from everything. Pub on your doorstop with very friendly locals and staff who made us feel very welcome. Our dog loved the walks and the cosy living room, as did we.

Should not be advertised as having a garden with furniture. There was nowhere to sit out or park at the property and a few hazards in the house. Some of the problems hadn't been sorted after being reported a long time ago. Shower door in ensuite was broken. Shower room downstairs was very tight. Hard to sit on the toilet because of it's proximity to radiator which resulted in a burn when central heating was turned on. It was clean. Stable door on entrance and top half collapsed when we tried to open it when it was sunny but cool. In a quiet area but parking in village is difficult. There is a small car park up a steep hill but a notice stated there should be no overnight parking. Bed in second bedroom was very tight to each side wall. We would not go again.

I would fully recommend this lovely comfortable compact cottage. Full of great equipment decorations and artwork. Very comfortable beds to, set in the lovely village of Middlesmoore, with a most fantastic view from the church. However we had a strange situation evolve we think due to lack of communication.Three days in we had a visit from Yorkshire water, to check for contamination, I had already suffered from a rash for two days wondering what was wrong…they came back two more times to recheck as there had been contamination in the whole village and our cottage was the only one that still had it slightly. Thing is we only found out about this when they turned up. There was a leaflet in the letterbox outside the gate that we didn’t see, but we think there should have been some communication to the owners to pass on information to visitors so we could have been prepared.
