The Old Post Office is a charming and spacious cottage in a picturesque village, ideally located for exploring North Yorkshire. Guests consistently praise its cosy atmosphere, well-equipped kitchen, and proximity to an excellent local pub. Most found the property clean and comfortable, with thoughtful touches such as a welcome pack. While a few guests noted minor maintenance issues and occasional lapses in cleanliness, the overall experience is highly positive, making it a popular choice for families, groups, and those seeking a relaxing countryside break.
Most guests found the cottage clean and well-kept, with several specifically mentioning spotless bathrooms and fresh towels. However, a small number of reviews reported issues such as dust, stains on the sofa, and a need for deeper cleaning in some areas. The majority of feedback is positive, but these isolated concerns have been factored into the score.
The location is frequently highlighted as a major strength, with guests appreciating the quiet village setting, easy access to North Yorkshire attractions, and the excellent pub just a few doors away. The property is also noted as being convenient for exploring nearby towns and countryside.
Guests generally found the cottage comfortable, with positive comments about the beds, spacious rooms, and cosy lounge with a fire. A few mentioned minor issues such as a creaky bed, steep stairs, and heating controls, but overall comfort levels were high.
The cottage is well-equipped, with a good kitchen, dishwasher, and ample space for families and groups. Some guests suggested improvements such as more crockery, cutlery, and basic supplies, as well as better lighting on the stairs. These minor suggestions are balanced by the overall satisfaction with the facilities.
Several guests appreciated thoughtful touches like a welcome pack and responsive hosts. However, it should be noted that such gifts are not guaranteed for every stay. Suggestions for additional basics (salt, pepper, sugar, soap) were made, but the overall impression is of a considerate and guest-focused experience.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Old Post Office, Rainton and it was perfectly placed for exploring the North York Moors. It was very clean, well equipped and the welcome pack was much appreciated. The only negative we found was that the window in the loft bedroom didn't open and we like to have an airy room. We think it could be a problem during a heatwave, unless there was access to a couple of fans. Otherwise, we found everything just perfect. The Bay Horse pub, just 3 doors away, serves amazing food at a very good price and the staff are very welcoming. All in all a very nice week.

Had a great stay at this cottage. Celebrated my 50th birthday celebrations with friends. The cottage was beautiful, clean and comfy. Great outdoor garden and the pub was just next door. Ideal location for shops, pubs.
