The town also offers a weekly market on a Tuesday, interesting churches, various craft and antique shops (notably Red House), cafes, and pubs, which provide local beers and home cooked food. There are many lovely walks for all abilities in this beautiful area, as well as delightful villages to explore. Within easy reach are many other attractions, including the Constable Burton Hall Gardens with extensive parkland and woodland walks, and Jervaulx Abbey, with its tearooms and Brymor Ice Cream, is only a 10 minute drive away. Gardeners will enjoy the Thorp Perrow Arboretum, which also offers falconry displays, plus don't miss the weird and wonderful Forbidden Corner near Middleham! The bathroom was beautifully tiled however there was a smell every time you opened the door, think this may be a drain issue, also lack of extractor as no window for ventilation . Lack of cleaning products except hand wash and fairy liquid also no welcome pack not even tea bags . The upstairs furnishings are very good quality ,beautiful . Overall with just a few tweeks this would be a place we would return too many times

For a driver with mobility issues this complicated our stay. Faint smell of damp and an obvious damp patch on the rear wall of the lounge. There was no extractor in the bathroom and the long shower tray had an inadequate non- slip mat so my friend was afraid to use it. Other little snags - such as no bowls for cooking , no plug in the bathroom sink for handwashing under separate taps. It should be stated that no downstairs toilet and a steep stairs make it unsuitable for anyone with walking issues.
