Between Settle and Skipton, on the fringe of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, sits the village of Hellifield. An active hamlet, it has its own tavern, a handful of small shops, a well-known butcher's shop, and a historic train station. Neighboring a massive limestone outcrop in the British Isles, the town is nestled amongst the most beautiful rolling scenery. Located on the border of the Dales and Ribble Valley, Hellifield has long been an important agricultural centre. It was home to one of northern England's most important livestock markets for many years. There is a famous line that runs through the most breathtaking highland terrain in the country, known nowadays as the Settle-Carlisle Railway. Malham Cove and Gordale Scar, as well as Skipton and Malham, are all within a short distance. As a starting point for exploring the Yorkshire Dales, Lake District, and Forest of Bowland, Hellifield is an ideal place to call home.

In particular the shower and bed were really good. Location good for exploring Malham and other parts of the Yorkshire Dales.

Well maintained. Only problem was on the first couple of days and nights, a working dog was being kept in a kennel next to the main farmhouse. Everytime the main pack of working dogs (being kept in a barn further away and no problem) barked or howled, this dog joined in - whatever the time of day or night. Not an enjoyable experience.

It is within the grounds of a working farm and so you will hear the occasional animal noises. The accommodation is immaculately presented and furnished. It was a very enjoyable stay.
