Rose Cottage in Settle is a well-regarded base for exploring the Yorkshire Dales, appreciated for its cleanliness, cosy comfort, and prime location. Guests have enjoyed the local charm, including nearby pubs and scenic walks. While some minor maintenance issues and parking challenges are noted, the cottage's warm atmosphere and amenities generally leave visitors satisfied and eager to return.
Guests consistently describe the cottage as clean and well-kept, with several positive remarks about its tidiness upon arrival. The repeated mention of cleanliness suggests a high standard maintained by the property.
The location is highly praised for its convenience and proximity to local attractions, including pubs and walking routes. The scenic setting and ease of access to the Three Peaks area contribute to its excellent location score.
Comfort is well-received with mentions of cosy beds and a warm atmosphere. However, some guests noted the stone floors could be cold and suggested the addition of rugs or advising guests to bring slippers.
Facilities are generally good, with a well-equipped kitchen and comfortable bedrooms. However, there are several comments about the need for better instructions for the TV and heating, and some minor maintenance issues like the main oven not working and the kettle being difficult to refill.
While some guests mentioned a welcome pack, there are inconsistent reports about its presence. As such gifts are not guaranteed and not all reviews reference them, it is not possible to accurately score thoughtfulness based on the available information.

This charming Ribblesdale village is located just across the river from the vibrant market town of Settle and beneath a limestone scar that is a component of the Craven fault. The 'date stones' over their doorways will indicate that many of the robust homes and cottages in this extremely picturesque location date to the 17th century. The picturesque St. Alkelda's church, which dates to the 12th century, and the iconic domed chapel of the illustrious Giggleswick School, which dominates the local skyline, remain the focal points of the village today. There are two pubs in Giggleswick, and Settle, a small market town, is close by and offers a wide range of services. The village of Ingleton is further away and has a beautiful waterfall trek, and the Three Peaks are nearby (for serious walkers, of course).

The cottage was warm, clean and comfortable and the log burner was a bonus as we dined in a coupe of evenings. Close proximity are two excellent pubs. Great location, we walked from the doorstep on several occasions and the cottage was a welcome retreat upon our return. Very satisfied, would definitely recommend Rose Cottage. Clare

We thoroughly enjoyed our week there, an ideal location for exploring the dales. Sadly I had a back injury so the nearby bus stop for services to Clitheroe came in handy on a few days. The Black Horse pub which was 2 mins away also came in handy, good food and ale. Will definitely stay again when I can walk normally and pain free again. Can heartily recommend this accommodation.

Lots of books and games. Nicely decorated. Bedrooms very nice and comfortable. Kitchen and bathroom looking tired and would benefit from updating. Central heating was on 24/7! Very hot at night. No off switch so had to adjust wall stat every hour or so. Nice neighbour helped us with rubbish collection times. Info was out of date. However, we had a very nice stay.
