Around and About

Situated just three miles to the south east of Huddersfield, the traditional village of Almondbury is located amidst the beautiful south Pennine countryside. Steeped in history and retaining several notable buildings from as far back as the 16th Century, the village even appeared in the Domesday Book. The nearby town of Holmfirth is best known as the home of Compo, Cleggy and Nora Batty from the long running comedy series 'Last of the Summer Wine', whilst the Colne Valley, also close by, is home to fictional 'Skelthwaite' from the successful series 'Where The Heart Is'. Almondbury is well situated to offer beautiful countryside and great walking opportunities, and is within easy reach of the northern Peak District and the southern Dales. Alternatively, the historic city of York, elegant Harrogate, and vibrant Leeds are all close by.

From heather-clad moors and limestone scars, to market towns and the steady pace of country life - the sublime Dales await you! Where else in Britain is it as satisfying to sit and do nothing as it is to explore the numerous pursuits on offer?
