Station House in Hornsea is praised for its excellent location, quirky character, and cosy atmosphere. Guests appreciate its proximity to local amenities, the beach, and the Pennine Trail. The property is described as a great place for dog owners and is noted for its warmth and home comforts.
Most guests found Station House to be clean and tidy, though a few noted issues with dust, webs, and pet odours. One review mentioned having to clean kitchen appliances upon arrival, which suggests room for improvement in this area.
The location is consistently lauded for being close to the beach, local amenities, and the Pennine Trail. Its convenience and accessibility are major highlights in the reviews.
The majority of guests found the accommodation comfortable, with a warm atmosphere and a comfy bed. However, there were some remarks about an uncomfortable mattress and noise from an upstairs flat, which slightly affected the comfort score.
Facilities are generally well-received, with mentions of a well-kept property and adequate amenities. Some guests experienced issues with non-working fireplaces and ventilation, indicating that some maintenance is needed.
Guests were touched by the welcome basket and freshly planted flower pots, reflecting a level of thoughtfulness. However, as these gifts are not guaranteed for every stay, they should be considered a delightful bonus rather than an expectation.

The property has been tastefully restored and enjoys some sea views from both bedrooms, and the twin bedroom has a 24" Freeview TV and DVD player.
The sandy beaches are about 200 yards away, and there is a boat compound with launching facilities for boats, ribs and jetskis giving access to the sea. It is centrally located in the unspoilt seaside town of Hornsea, known as ’Lakeland by the Sea’, due to the presence in the town of Yorkshire’s largest natural freshwater lake, Hornsea Mere. Not only is the property close to the beach and promenade with its cafés and fish and chip shops, but it is also a short level stroll from the heritage town centre with its museum, shops, restaurants, cafés, bars and public parks, making it an ideal base for those wanting to relax and enjoy the area. Within just a few hundred yards of Station House you will find an indoor soft play facility and Hornsea’s main leisure centre, which offers an indoor heated swimming pool, gym, café and other facilities. Hornsea is also the finishing point for the Trans Pennine Way; from your doorstep you can cycle or walk through the town and out into open countryside on these wonderful, largely level, maintained leisure trails. Activities locally also include sailing and bird watching at Hornsea Mere, Hornsea Golf Course, Freeport shopping centre, Honeysuckle Farm and there is a boat compound with launching facilities. Further afield you’ll find The Deep (a huge aquarium) at Hull and, of course, Bridlington, Scarborough, York, Filey and Flamborough. Whatever the weather, and however you like to spend your holidays, either relaxing or being active, a stay at Station House in Hornsea will surely delight. Shop, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.

We enjoyed our break and it is so handy to local amenities. A quirky place makes it very interesting. It took a couple of hours to navigate. Smiling here.We have already booked twice for next year so looking forward to being able to sit in the yard with a glass of wine in the summer.
