Guests say

Newbegin Cottage is praised for its spaciousness and prime location in Hornsea, with easy access to shops, restaurants, and the beach. Guests appreciate the property's suitability for large groups and its pet-friendly policy. While some guests enjoyed their stay and highlighted the convenience and potential of the property, others noted areas for improvement.

Cleanliness has been a recurring concern among guests, with several mentioning the need for a more thorough cleaning, particularly in the kitchen and bathrooms. Dust, grime, and pet hair were noted, impacting the overall experience.

The property's location is highly regarded, being central to Hornsea's amenities, close to the beach, and opposite a park. The convenience for shopping, dining, and enjoying the seaside is a standout feature.

Comfort received mixed reviews. While the property is spacious and the beds clean, guests reported issues with uncomfortable furniture and beds, as well as noise disturbance from a neighbouring wine bar.

Facilities and maintenance issues were highlighted, including insufficient kitchen equipment, broken items, and a need for better property instructions. The presence of a secure garden and the provision of clean linen were positives.

Some guests mentioned thoughtful touches like a welcome pack with essentials, which added to their experience. However, such gestures are not consistent across all stays, and future guests should not expect them as guaranteed.

More equipment in kitchen, gas fire not working, the first night the house heating was too low had to wrap up in lounge. Just needs a service on gas and electric, so everything works correctly ( gas fire not working, radiator have cold spots , ) could do with a information pack about how things work and what to do in area,

It could be so lovely & comfortable if it was deep cleaned & updated a little. It states dogs are welcome but are only allowed downstairs with nothing to prevent them going upstairs. A child gate would be useful. We found another persons prescription medicine in one of the rooms. Cobwebs, dirty floors. Very uncomfortable beds. We left early. Smoke detector hanging off the ceiling. Loose loo seat & kitchen tap. Difficult to work TV. Left it cleaner than we found it. The £150 good housekeeping bond is laughable as many cushions, towels, bedding, sofa were stained. Cut my ankle on the metal bit of the bed in the very small downstairs bedroom. Take an eye mask as the curtains don't keep out the light. Not enough to cater for 8 people (glasses, seats, etc). Such a shame as it could be wonderful with a little effort. The showers were great & l loved the period features. Great location if you don't mind noise from the street & cafe next door. No parking, but this isn't an issue as there's plenty of places to park.
