Guests say

The Old Stables is a cottage with a great location in Brough, appreciated by guests. However, several reviews indicate issues with cleanliness, maintenance, and comfort. The garden's condition and some indoor facilities have been noted as areas needing attention. Positive communication with the owners is mentioned, and the potential for a welcoming touch is acknowledged.

Multiple reviews report problems with cleanliness, including dirty kitchen appliances, floors, and garden furniture. There is also mention of an ant infestation and overflowing bins, indicating significant room for improvement.

The location is consistently praised as good and lovely, suggesting that the cottage is well-situated for guests looking to enjoy the local area.

Guests have reported uncomfortable furniture, difficulty with blinds, and issues with the showers, which detract from the overall comfort of the cottage.

Facilities and maintenance are a concern, with reports of broken appliances, garden disrepair, and safety hazards. The need for better maintenance is evident from the feedback provided.

While one review mentions the lack of a welcome pack, there is not enough information to assess the overall thoughtfulness of the hosts consistently across the reviews. Therefore, it is politely noted that any gifts or welcome packs are not guaranteed.

Problem with both showers, spider webs in rafters and the garden needed a lot of attention and was not comfortable for sitting outside.

Loacation good area lovely. The en-suite shower, we were unable to regulate the temperature it was so hot we couldn’t use it, it is extremely dangerous , staying for a week , 4 adults trying to share one shower . One member of our party was unable to climb over the bath to use alternative shower consequently this was a huge problem. The garden was very unkempt , brambles growing wildly around the side of the shed which caught on to clothes, garden furniture rusty , dirty , firewood storage wood not secure , falling out onto garden, very unsightly. Not a pleasant environment to enjoy the sunshine. Ant infestation in hallway. Baking tins dirty. Had to empty hoovers before could use it . One hoover not working. Kitchen floor covered in black debris which we found was being caused by the leather on dining room chair disintegrating.Lounge furniture supports gone. Was going to mop floor the mop bucket so dirty I didn’t use it. I contacted the local contact number on the booking form twice and left messages and got no reply. I waited a few days for reply. I contacted the number used on the day of visit to get the key code and was answered by owner who offered to come round but we were going out also the holiday was nearly over. What upset us was that these problems had been reported a week before and obviously not addressed . I took photos.
