South Lodge is a beautifully renovated cottage near Driffield, praised for its high standards, cleanliness, and well-equipped kitchen. Guests highlight the peaceful setting, excellent communication from the host, and the unique wood-fired hot tub, though some found it tricky to use. The property is ideal for exploring East Yorkshire and nearby towns. While most found it comfortable and relaxing, a few noted the lounge seating could be improved and the location is close to a main road. Dog owners should note some restrictions. Overall, guests enjoyed a welcoming and memorable stay.
Cleanliness is consistently praised, with multiple guests describing the property as immaculate, spotless, and very well maintained. Only positive comments were made regarding the standard of cleanliness.
The location is appreciated for its peacefulness and proximity to Driffield, York, and the East Yorkshire coast. Some mention the main road and limited immediate walking options, especially for dog owners, but overall guests found it convenient for exploring the area.
Guests generally found the cottage comfortable, with special mention of the beds and bedding. However, several reviews noted that the lounge seating could be improved for four adults, and the small fridge may be limiting for longer stays.
Facilities are highly rated, with a well-equipped kitchen, luxurious bathrooms, and the standout wood-fired hot tub. Some guests found the hot tub tricky to use and suggested additional outdoor furniture, but overall the amenities met or exceeded expectations.
The host is frequently described as attentive, responsive, and helpful, with thoughtful touches such as robes and clear instructions. Some guests mentioned gifts like Easter treats, but please note these are not guaranteed for every stay.

Really beautiful property, beautifully maintained and had everything that we needed. Very homely and welcoming. It is set off a main road but it didn’t bother us as the view the other way is fields where you can watch the deer and birds. Easy access to local towns. The Easter bunny even found us! Thank you for a lovely stay!

We had a lovely, relaxing weekend celebrating a birthday with our daughters. The owners were in contact before arrival with information for our stay including being able to order logs and hampers. We knew we could contact them at any point during our stay. The cottage was decorated to a high standard. The kitchen was well equipped including a coffee machine, microwave and slow cooker. There was also a dishwasher in the utility area. The fridge was on the small side especially if you were to stay longer than a weekend. The beds were very comfortable with luxurious bedding and pillows..The hot tub was a great feature, although it did take a little while to get the fire going enough to heat it properly. We especially enjoyed the log burner, which made the living room feel really cosy. One small suggestion would be to add another sofa in the living room, as it would make it more comfortable for four people to sit together and watch a film.We made the most of the area with a trip to the high ropes, a visit into Bridlington, and a fantastic Sunday roast at The Wellington Inn in Lund.Overall, a wonderful stay and we would definitely return.
