Pickles Hill Cottage is consistently praised for its cleanliness, comfort, and idyllic location. Guests appreciate the proximity to local attractions and the added luxury of a hot tub. The cottage's charm and the owners' hospitality, including occasional welcome treats, contribute to a highly recommended and relaxing stay.
The cottage receives high marks for cleanliness, with multiple reviews noting it as spotless. Only one negative comment about stained carpets slightly impacts the score.
The location is celebrated for its beautiful views and convenience for walks and local pubs. Its proximity to towns and attractions adds to its appeal.
Comfort is highly rated, with guests finding the cottage cosy and the beds comfortable. A single mention of a noisy bed suggests a minor issue but does not detract significantly from the overall comfort.
Facilities are generally well-received, especially the hot tub. Some minor maintenance issues like a broken toaster and missing light bulbs are noted, but the quick response from the owners to resolve issues is positively viewed.
The owners are commended for their thoughtfulness, with mentions of welcome treats and helpful communication. While such gestures are warmly received, it is politely noted that these are not guaranteed for every stay.
Oakworth 1.3 miles. Enjoying a wonderful position within the picturesque Worth Valley, which was made famous by the classic 1970 film, The Railway Children is Pickles Hill Cottage, situated on the outskirts of Oakworth village. This delightful accommodation boasts beautiful views over Haworth Moors and is perfect for couples or small families to explore West Yorkshire and its magnitude of pretty towns and villages, as well as the North Yorkshire National Park. Enter into the warmth of the cottage and be welcomed into the sitting room, where the exposed beams frame the traditional-style furnishings, complemented by a gas coal-effect fire, making a tranquil spot to return to at the end of an adventure-filled day. Joining this space is the dining table, where you and your loved ones can gather to tuck into a home-cooked meal that was prepared in the well-equipped kitchen. Afterwards, look forward to catching your rest in one of the two bedrooms; choose from a double bedroom with elegant furnishings and a single bedroom, ideally set up for a child. Soak up the countryside surroundings further, by taking dining outdoors on the patio, where you can catch a glimpse of the sunset while soaking in the bubbling hot tub. If you can tear yourself away from this quaint abode, head into the village of Oakworth, where you will find a plethora of amenities, including a choice of pubs and a shop for picking up the essentials. The wonderful country pub The Grouse Inn is only 400 yards away from the cottage and offers a 10% discount on food to guests of the cottage. Alternatively, travel slightly further afield to Keighley where you will find a larger selection of pubs, restaurants, cafés and tearooms, offering something to suit all tastes, as well as providing access to the attractions of Cliffe Castle Museum and Park, offering a variety of local history and heritage. Be sure to visit the nearby village of Haworth, famous for being the home of the Bronte sisters and the inspiration for many of their famous novels, as well as a variety of quaint eateries for refuelling before exploring the surrounding moorland. Alternatively, head to Skipton, where you will find charming cobbled streets and the 12th-century castle, while further afield is the interesting old Calderdale town of Hebden Bridge with its hippy culture. Adventurous guests may climb the peak of Ilkley Moor, a moorland and conservation area with several scenic walking trails, providing excellent bird watching opportunities and scenic viewpoints, or head to the Yorkshire Dales National Park to find more walking spots. Make memories in West Yorkshire at Pickles Hill Cottage.
Oakworth, a little Pennine village not far from Haworth that looks out over the Worth Valley, shot to fame when E.E. Nesbitt's story The Railway Children was adapted into a great 1970 film. Oakworth is conveniently located near the town of Keighley and the town of Haworth, and it also features a beautiful ornamental park and easy access to the surrounding moors. The Bronte sisters, who lived in nearby Haworth, found inspiration in the local moors. Haworth is home to a plethora of antique and curiosity shops, as well as winding alleys and cobblestone lanes that give the town a beautiful, old-world vibe, and it's all set against the picturesque landscape made famous by Emily Bront's Wuthering Heights. The old village of Oxenhope is conveniently close, and a trip on the Worth Valley Railway, made famous by the film The Railway Children, is a wonderful way to spend the day. The Bronte Parsonage Museum, East Riddlesden Hall, and the Museum of Rail are just a few of the many tourist attractions in the neighbourhood. Skipton, known as the "Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales," is not far away by car, nor are the more refined Harrogate or the bustling cities of Leeds or Manchester.
