About this property

Farnhill 0.6 miles. Set at the heart of the quaint village of Kildwick, near Farnhill, overlooking the Aire Valley, lies this delightful, two-bedroom holiday home, Canal View Cottage. Overlooking and set upon the tranquil waters of the Leeds and Liverpool canal, this charming cottage boasts well-presented living spaces, great positioning to nearby amenities, and superb proximity to the Yorkshire Dales National Park and the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, making it a fantastic base for a family looking for their next relaxing escape to the Yorkshire Dales. After you've unpacked your belongings, make yourself at home in your lovely new lodgings, where a fully-equipped kitchen/diner awaits the chosen chef, complete with all the appliances required to whip up tasty, home-cooked meals. Savour your culinary creations at the dining table, before you retreat to the plush sitting room where you can enjoy a film on the Smart TV, kept warm by a well-appointed, gas log-effect stove. As day rolls into night, refresh with a long, hot shower before you finally retire for a well-earned rest in one of two inviting bedrooms. If you can tear yourself away from your peaceful new dwelling, take time to explore what your local surroundings have to offer. Embark on a scenic walk alongside the calm waters of the canal that’s located right outside of the cottage; take a walk into Kildwick, where you can settle down for a delicious pub lunch at The White Lion pub, which has a gorgeous setting and beer garden, offering excellent, traditional pub fare, or even a little spot of coffee at Coffee & Crumbs; or go a step further and head on-foot across the river to the neighbouring village of Cross Hills, which is home to the serene greens of Glusburn Park, the historic landmark of Lund's Tower, as well as the popular dining spots of 22 The Square, the Old White Bear Public House and Restaurant, and the Dog & Gun country inn. Enjoy the ultimate escape to Yorkshire when you book a stay at Canal View Cottage.

Just four miles south of Skipton, in the Aire Valley, along the Leeds to Liverpool canal, is the charming village of Farnhill. There are still some structures in the village that date back to the 17th century, and there are many more from the 19th century, when it was a thriving centre for lead mining and hand loom weaving. In addition to having a top-notch neighbourhood pub, Farnhill is close to Cross Hills, which is home to a variety of historic inns, shops and fine dining establishments. The area's mainline train station also offers convenient access to Leeds, Skipton and the well-known Settle-Carlisle Railway line. As "The Gateway to the Dales," nearby Skipton is home to an old castle, a stunning mediaeval parish church, and a vibrant market that fills the cobblestone "setts" on either side of the high street. Take a typical barge ride down a canal, or go to Embsay Steam Railway, which offers weekend steam train excursions on a regular basis.

Thank you! We had a lovely stay, and could of happily stayed longer. Perfect for two, would be a squash for 3 or 4 people, especially when eating meals. The kitchen was well equipped for preparing meals. We had everything we needed during our stay. The location is good, with lovely canal walks/fishing, from the door. There is good access to main roads, and lots to see and do in the area. The pub round the corner is very friendly. The house next door is currently empty, so the property was peaceful and quiet.

Grateful for the heating as we returned a bit wet and chilly on a couple of days ! Everything you need is there but no cooking was required as the pub is marvellous !!!
