Guests appreciate the property's proximity to the town centre and public transport, as well as the thoughtful touches like milk and fizz on arrival. While compact, the cottage is well-equipped and ideal for couples, offering a comfortable stay with a lovely garden space. Some guests noted the small living space and lack of certain amenities, but overall, the cottage is recommended for its charm and convenience.

The cottage consistently receives high marks for cleanliness, with multiple reviews describing it as 'spotless' and 'immaculate'. This indicates a very high standard of cleanliness maintained by the owners.

The location is frequently highlighted as a major plus, with its close proximity to Ilkley town centre, public transport, and local attractions. Guests find it convenient for both exploring the town and the surrounding Yorkshire Dales.

Most guests find the cottage comfortable, mentioning a good night's sleep and a great shower. However, a few noted the compact nature of the living space, suggesting that it may not suit everyone's needs.

The cottage is generally well-regarded for its facilities, with mentions of a great outdoor space and barbecue. However, some guests missed having a hob and wardrobe, which affects the score slightly.

About this property

Garden Cottage is a compact, yet well-equipped single-storey annexe resting within the grounds of the main house and only a short walk from the centre of the famous Victorian spa town of Ilkley. This cosy accommodation is perfect for a solo traveller or a couple to use as a base to explore the surrounding area, considered to be the most popular part of the Yorkshire Dales. At the end of each day, return to the brightly-decorated open-plan living space, where you will find a small but well- equipped kitchen to make a brew and rustle up snacks, as well as an inviting seating area, where you can unwind in front of the Smart TV. The shower room includes an electric power shower and heated towel rail. Concluding this charming property is the bedroom, where quality linens drape across the sumptuous double bed and views of the garden are certain to captivate each morning. To the exterior, there is a well laid out garden with a large lawn, where table and chairs offer an alternative spot for enjoying drinks and meals, whilst the outdoor chess game will spark some competitive fun on a summer’s day. A BBQ is available for outdoor cooking, and the garden contains mature fruit trees as well as soft fruit canes - guests are welcome to pick their own fruit if it is in season during their stay! A short stroll takes you into the town centre where you will find a wealth of superb eateries, including a bar within the historic railway station, The Ticket Office, as well as The Flying Duck which incorporates its own brewing facilities and the famous Betty's Cafe Tea Rooms. The town, famous for its coffee shops, also hosts an array of independent bars and restaurants to suit all tastes (including pubs, wine bars and gin bars) as well as national chains such as Pizza Express, Bistro Pierre and Banyans. The town also plays host to a plethora of shopping opportunities, as well as attractions to suit all, including Europe’s smallest 4K cinema, Manor House Trust with its museum, arts and heritage centre and the endearing Toy Museum. Bolton Abbey is just a short distance out of town by car and is well-worth a visit, being home to the beautiful Priory Church and Ruins, the 60 stepping stones across the river and the walking opportunity within the Valley of Desolation, where you will be rewarded by a beautiful waterfall and views across the moors to Simon’s Seat. A journey along the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway is another superb activity to do whilst here, offering a leisurely way to soak up the scenery of the national park, whilst avid ramblers will be delighted by the multitude of walks that are on offer here. The charming market town of Skipon with its grand 11th century castle is also just a short distance away, whilst the likes of Harrogate and Howarth are slightly further afield but promise to be memorable days out. For those who don’t want to venture so far there are many lovely local countryside walks within easy reach of the cottage, with Ilkley Moor just 10 minutes’ walk away, with its iconic “Cow and Calf” stones.

As the property is within walking distance of Ilkley train station and bus station as well as all the shops, bars, cafes and restaurants you could need, no car is required. With all of this and much more to enjoy, secure your stay at Garden Cottage for a superb holiday in Yorkshire.

It had everything we needed for a comfortable stay while visiting with family in the area. Michael and Kathy were both friendly and welcoming. Getting in and out of the driveway can be tricky. Would recommend reversing in to make access to the road easier and quicker.
