Four miles away from Daisy Mount is the village of Haworth, made famous as the home to the Brontë sisters. The village where cobbled streets, independent shops, and the Brontë Parsonage Museum bring literary history to life. Walk in the footsteps of the Brontes to explore the wild Yorkshire Moors, such as Ponden Kirk and Haworth Moor, and discover the landscape, such as Wuthering Heights, Bronte Waterfall, and Alcomden Stones, that captivated and influenced their work. 3 miles away is Ponden reservoir, which offers Canadian canoes, rafted canoes, and paddle boarding for all ages. Branshaw Golf Club is situated 4 miles away on ‘Bronte country moorland’.

This is a stunning 18-hole golf course and a unique design by James Braid and Dr Alister Mackenzie, famous for designing Gleneagles and Augusta National. Visitors of all abilities and golfing groups are very welcome. A classic country pub, The Grouse Inn, is 0.5 miles away. Nearby are the towns of Keighley, Skipton and Ilkley. Near Keighley, there is The Worth Valley Light Railway, made famous by the film The Railway Children in the 1970’s, which runs for five miles through the town to the village of Oxenhope. Just one mile out of Keighley town is the wonderful 17th-century National Trust East Riddlesden Hall.

Ilkley offers riverside strolls, boutique cafés, and the famous Ilkley Moor with its panoramic vistas. Skipton is the ‘gateway to the beautiful Yorkshire Dales National Parkwhere its medieval castle and bustling market create a lively day out, plus within driving distance are the city of York and delightful Harrogate. A lovely base to explore a large part of Yorkshire. The town, mentioned in the Domesday Book, grew during the 18th and 19th centuries due to wool and cotton industries. Today Keighley offers a shopping centre, pubs, takeaways and restaurants, whilst on the outskirts of the town are two retail parks, and the Keighley and Worth Valley Light Railway, made famous by the film The Railway Children in the 1970’s, runs for five miles through the town to the village of Oxenhope.
