Around and About

Set in the Shropshire Hills and adjacent to the Long Mynd, the village of Picklescott is located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This little town is at the halfway point of a circular walk along country lanes, whilst the surrounding area is full of bridleways which make for excellent walking and cycling opportunities. Visitors can enjoy the stunning views from the Devil's Chair at nearby Stiperstones Nature Reserve, or take a trip to the picturesque market town of Church Stretton - boasting half-timbered buildings - just a six mile drive away. The medieval towns of Shrewsbury and Ludlow are also close by and boast impressive castles, excellent shops, restaurants and scenic, riverside walks. The World Heritage Site of Ironbridge, the amazing Roman ruins at Wroxeter and Stokesay Castle are all within easy driving distance.

A E Houseman once wrote that Shropshire was "the quietest place under the sun" and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.
