About this property

Clee Hill 2.2 miles. Enjoying some of the most beautiful views in southern Shropshire, Railway Cottage is a charming retreat for a family or group of five resting in the village of Bitterley, not far from the historic town of Ludlow. Benefitting from a large enclosed garden which features a hot tub, a woodburning stove in the sitting room, and thoughtful décor, Railway Cottage makes a lovely base for a peaceful break to the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This former rail workers' cottage now enjoys pretty painted blue gates to the rear; enter here and into the back door, finding the ground-floor bathroom immediately to the left, complete with a bath and overhead shower for you to freshen up in. Continue through to the kitchen/diner where you'll spend many evenings with your loved ones tucking into home-cooked meals, with all the appliances you could need here. Retire to the sitting room and light the woodburning stove on a cool evening, flicking on the FreeSat TV for something to watch, or settling down with a book on one of the sofas. Stairs lead up to three lovely bedrooms, consisting of a twin and a single, along with a double bedroom which boasts far-reaching views across to Ludlow and the Welsh mountains. Explore the exterior of the property where you'll find the handy lockable external utility room, housing a washing machine and plenty of space for bike storage. Relax at the outdoor dining furniture on the gravelled area, dining alfresco or soaking up the sun, or treat yourself to a dip in the fabulous hot tub located at the end of the lawned area, a private, tranquil space for stargazing in the warm bubbling waters. Just a few miles away is the village of Clee Hill where you'll find the nearest shop and pub, along with a lovely bakery and a takeaway, covering all self-catering bases. Walkers will surely enjoy being on the doorstep of the Clee Hills area, with Abdon Burf being the highest hill in the county and resting just a bit further north, offering some wonderful views over the surrounding countryside. The Shropshire Way is just east of Railway Cottage and provides a fantastic route for newcomers to the area to explore, with stage 6 of the route taking you from Ludlow to Wheathill, around 10.5 miles in total. Head down to Ludlow to explore this popular market town, making sure to visit the amazing Norman citadel of Ludlow Castle, dating to 1094 and nowadays playing host to events, fairs and concerts! The National Trust's Croft Castle and Parkland is another great day out exploring the 11th century castle and beautiful grounds, or head to Berrington Hall, also National Trust, offering a lovely example of neoclassical 18th century architecture. For a special family day out, make the journey over to the West Midland Safari Park, just under an hour's drive away, to experience the wonder of being up close to exotic animals! Make epic memories in Shropshire with your loved ones at the lovely setting of Railway Cottage.

Clee Hill is a village resting in the southeastern corner of the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, enjoying an elevated position on the slopes of Titterstone Clee Hill.
