About this property

Tucked away in the luscious Shropshire countryside, at the heart of Ellesmere town, is the arresting townhouse of Lion's Den. Renovated to a high-standard whilst retaining a rustic industrial charm with exposed brickwork and high-vaulted exposed beam ceilings, this stylish abode provides a quirky base from which a family or group of four can explore the great Shropshire countryside. Step inside the warm and intimate living/dining room, wonderfully appointed with a large leather sofa and two inviting armchairs, as well as an impressive flat-screen TV that sits proudly above the pretty inglenook fireplace and the decorative woodburning stove that lies within, together creating a fabulous space to relax and unwind at the end of your days. The room also boasts a large wood dining table with seating for four, where you can tuck into a hearty group dinner and discuss your most memorable moments from the holiday so far whilst cracking open a delicious bottle of wine. Cross on over to the quaint yet well-equipped kitchen and discover a plethora of appliances such as two electric ovens, a gas hob and a dishwasher, that lie within the gorgeous grey cabinets. There's also a good selection of utensils that hang on striking copper pipe under the attractive wood shelving to help you along the way, as well as an additional utility room hosting both a washing machine and a cloakroom. Climb the beautiful winding staircase up to the first floor and be greeted by two homely bedrooms consisting of a king-size and a twin. Both bedrooms are served by a well-designed shower room that rests just across the way, home to a spacious walk-in shower and a handy heated towel rail, as well as emanating light from a Velux window. When you can just about tear yourself away from this restful dwelling, start with a relaxing stroll along the canals and wander The Mere, an award-winning park boasting a tranquil lake and well-kept gardens where you can enjoy a spot of bird watching as you indulge in a lovingly prepared picnic before setting off along the Ellesmere Sculpture Trail. Travel to the neighbouring town of Oswestry for a wander through the magnificent Shropshire Sculpture Park or a tour of Oswestry Castle and the town Museum, before grabbing a bite to eat in one of the many quintessential cafés or tea rooms and delighting in an afternoon spent shopping on the high-street. There's much fun to be had at local attractions such as Shrewsbury Prison, National Trust owned Attingham Park Estate, and Battlefield Falconry Centre, all of which can be reached within a pleasant drive. Guests travelling with little ones will enjoy trips to Hoo Farm Animal Kingdom and The Crocky Trail, whilst outdoor enthusiasts will relish in an afternoon exploring the vast landscapes of the Shropshire Hills or a trip across the border to Snowdonia National Park. Upon return to your holiday home, be sure to stop by The Swan Inn for a refreshing pint, followed by a fantastic meal at the Meze Greek Restaurant. If it's a quiet night in you seek, why not grab ingredients from the local supermarket or pick up some food at one of the many well-established takeaways within the town. With so much to be enjoyed right from your doorstep, it's no surprise that Lion's Den makes an excellent choice for your next escape to Shropshire.

Nestled within the Shropshire countryside, just a stone's throw away from where England meets Wales, is the picturesque market town of Ellesmere. Handy for lovely walks down canal and The Mere. Car parking was a bonus and very handy. The house was very clean and everything in it was in excellent condition. I have already told many friends about it and also about the area. A great place to enjoy a break away.
