Corn House in Shropshire receives high praise for its beautiful setting, well-equipped facilities, and thoughtful touches. Guests enjoyed the comfortable furnishings, extensive on-site activities including games rooms and animal interactions, and the welcoming atmosphere created by the owners. The majority of guests found the property to be exceptionally clean, with special mentions of the cleanliness of the swimming pool and the welcoming touch of fresh flowers. However, one review mentioned issues with hairs in the beds and stains on pillows, which slightly impacts the overall high cleanliness rating.

The location is consistently described as lovely and peaceful, with easy access to local attractions and scenic countryside. The rural setting was perfect for a family escape and provided a great base for exploring Shropshire's historical sites and landscapes.

Guests were very satisfied with the comfort of the property, highlighting the comfortable beds and the cosy atmosphere. The spaciousness to accommodate large groups and the provision of firewood for a real fireplace added to the overall comfort.

The facilities, including games rooms, go-karts, and a swimming pool, were a hit with guests of all ages. Some reviews, however, pointed out that the leisure facilities were expensive and that some equipment like ovens and dishwashers could be improved. The presence of flies in one of the annex bedrooms was also noted.

The property owners received commendation for their thoughtfulness, with guests appreciating the welcome gifts of fresh flowers and cookies. It should be noted that such gifts, while appreciated, are not guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

One of two special listed barn conversions, on a 1000-acre farm in rural hamlet of Plaish near Cardington. Full of character, the barn has three woodburners, exposed beams and lovely views. Corn House is made up of two fully self-contained properties. The main house has 8 bedrooms sleeping up to 17 people, 3 with ensuite bathrooms, two family bathroom and two cloakrooms, large picture lounge with full length windows, fully equipped kitchen/utility, large dining room to seat 23, bar area and pool table. The self contained annex has 2 bedrooms sleeping 6, both with ensuite bathrooms plus a fully equipped kitchen/diner and lounge.

There is no internal door from Corn house to annex but access is only a few metres from the front door of Corn house - perfect for a family reunion or celebration. Access to two games rooms and conservation area in owners' grounds and woodland walks in animals, where you can collect your own eggs when available. Note: This property can be booked with ref 3591 to accommodate 34 guests.

The pretty village of Cardington lies amongst the rolling hills of the South Shropshire countryside. Cardington boasts the oldest pub in Shropshire – The Royal Oak, mentioned in the Domesday Book! Its rural situation is ideal for sightseeing, with miles of country walks in all directions, not to mention the beautiful Shropshire hills - a draw for walkers, riders and nature lovers alike! A wealth of birdlife (including buzzards, woodpeckers and ravens) has its home here. Severn Valley Steam Railway, Stokesay Castle, Shrewsbury, Ludlow and the Ironbridge Gorge, with its 10 museums, are each less than 20 miles away. The attractive market towns of Church Stretton (known as "Little Switzerland" by the Victorians) and Much Wenlock are both close by and offer a variety of shops, pubs and restaurants. A superb location!

For all bookings due to check in up to 8 January 2026, Corn House will offer 6 bedrooms, sleeping 15 people (4 bedrooms in the main house and 2 in the adjoining annex).

From the 1 February 2026, Corn House will be extended to become a 10 bedroom property sleeping 23 guests (8 bedrooms in the main house and 2 bedrooms in the adjoining annex).

The following notes set out the 10-bedroom accommodation available from 1 February.

2 x ground floor bedrooms four-poster double beds with en-suite shower, basin & WC, first floor, 1 x large bedroom with king size bed and additional single bed and fitted wardrobes, en-suite shower, basin & WC, 4 x twin rooms with 2 family bathrooms with WC, sink and bath with shower with additional cloakroom WC in hall.

2 x cloakrooms with WC and basin.

Adjoining the property is a 2 bedroomed, two storey self contained annex (via outside door and not on the floor plan) - Entrance hall to Dining room/lounge with log burner, oak bespoke fully equipped kitchen and utility with WC and sink, first floor 2 x en suite bedrooms consisting of 1 x double bed and 1 single bed with en-suite shower/WC/sink, main bedroom king size bed and full size adult day bed, en suite bathroom with bath, shower over, basin & WC

    This farm has something for everyone- animals, lakes to walk to or swim in. Games room galore and superb swimming pool and gym (expensive but well worth the cost and better than most hotels). The accommodation was warm and comfortable with plenty of bathrooms and hot showers. We would certainly return.

    Particular highlights for the children (and adults too!) were the pedal bikes - great to have ones that took 2, the pool and the animals. A very good site for exploring the spectacular landscape and historical sites. The bedrooms were comfortable with plenty of bathroom space.
