Guests say

New Inn Cottage in Cardington is a charming and well-located property with a homely feel. Guests appreciate the beautiful, tranquil village setting and the convenience of starting walks right from the front door. The cottage's character and the warmth provided by the Aga and woodburner are highlights, alongside the well-equipped kitchen and modern shower room. Some guests noted issues with comfort and privacy due to the lack of curtains and an uncomfortable sofa.

The cottage generally receives positive remarks on cleanliness, with mentions of it being 'spotlessly clean' and 'very clean'. However, a few guests noted cobwebs and dust, suggesting room for improvement.

The location is highly praised for its peacefulness, beauty, and convenience for walking and exploring the Shropshire countryside. The village's charm and the proximity to local amenities are also appreciated.

While the bedroom and bed receive compliments for comfort, several guests found the sofa uncomfortable. The Aga's heat is appreciated in colder months but may be excessive in summer. The lack of privacy due to missing curtains/blinds is also a concern.

Facilities are generally well-regarded, especially the kitchen and shower room. However, there are mixed reviews about the Aga and the absence of a microwave. Parking and Wi-Fi discrepancies were noted, and some outdoor furniture was reported as broken.

Guests mention a welcome hamper and the woodburner being lit upon arrival, indicating thoughtfulness. However, some essentials were reportedly missing, and there was an instance of out-of-date biscuits. It's worth noting that such gifts are a kind gesture and may vary.

We enjoyed our stay at New Inn Cottage. The house is lovely with lots of character and the location is peaceful. However, the sofa is really uncomfortable (as at Spring 2024) and lots of people have commented on this in the visitor book. The kitchen was not stocked to the standard I expected considering the price level of this holiday. The house is heated by an Aga in the kitchen which has to be on all year round so could be an issue in hot weather. There's also a log burning stove which should be fine for winter but we didn't need it. The shower is great but the shower tray fills up so you have to limit the water flow. There are no curtains or blinds on the ground floor so it's not very private but the street outside is quiet most of the time. The garden space could be set up a bit better to make it inviting for guests to use. Overall it's a lovey place to stay but it would benefit from a bit of investment to bring it up to scratch.
