About this property

Howle Hideaway is a semi-detached barn conversion set on an 11-acre smallholding near Ross-on-Wye in Herefordshire. Home to alpacas and black sheep, offering a characterful countryside escape for couples or small families, with the option to book alongside a neighbouring property to accommodate up to eight guests. Step inside and discover an inviting open-plan living space, where original charm meets thoughtful design. The cosy sitting area creates a warm focal point for evenings in, while a sofa bed offers additional sleeping space. The well-equipped kitchen provides everything needed for a self-catered stay, complete with a breakfast bar, while the dining area offers a place to gather and enjoy meals together.

Doors lead out to the enclosed side patio and lawn, where you can make the most of the outdoor furniture and barbecue during warmer months. Upstairs, accessed via a spiral staircase, the double bedroom provides a restful setting along with a TV for added convenience. The ground floor hosts a modern shower room, featuring a large walk-in shower, basin and WC. Outside, the enclosed garden creates a secure space for guests travelling with a pet, while the surrounding smallholding offers a unique rural backdrop. With alpacas and sheep grazing nearby, it’s an ideal setting to embrace the charm of the countryside.

Off-road parking for two cars to add to the property’s practicality. A shop and pub can be found a short drive away, while Ross-on-Wye, just a little further afield, offers riverside walks, independent shops and eateries. Spend time exploring Symonds Yat for scenic viewpoints and canoeing, discover the Forest of Dean for walking and cycling trails, or visit Monmouth with its historic streets and castle remains. Explore famous Goodrich Castle, a perfect example of a 12th century "Marcher Castle", or enjoy the renowned walks along Offa's Dyke and the Wye Valley Walk. Visit beautiful Symonds Yat (4 miles) with its towering rocks where peregrine falcons breed, and take the ferry across the river to the Wye Valley Visitors Centre.
