About this property

A wonderful semi-detached barn conversion fully renovated in 2021, and set in the charming grounds of the owner’s black and white timbered home, in the village of Yarpole in Herefordshire. Boasting a beautiful finish with a glazed front covering two stories, The Cart Barn is a superb bolthole for those seeking a Herefordshire break. Discover the open-plan living area, rejuvenated with a light and airy feeling, here you can get comfortable on the spacious corner sofa as the electric fire provides a gentle warmth, or choose a book from the owner’s selection and lose yourself in a gripping read. Move through to the kitchen, home to a contemporary assortment of appliances, including an electric oven and induction hob, microwave, fridge and dishwasher, so you are fully equipped for home-cooking. Serve a delicious dinner at the dining table, popping open a bottle of fizz in the process, before enjoying the last of the evening sun at the patio furniture. Venture upstairs to reach the bedroom, hosting a king-size bed and chest of drawers plus a Freeview TV, while across the mezzanine hall is a spacious shower room with walk-in shower cubicle. The bedroom also has an air conditioning unit which can be requested during exceptionally hot weather for a small additional weekly charge. Yarpole offers an award-winning community shop selling cupboard essentials and a superb community pub, The Bell, serving a varied menu and selection of ales which is just a stones throw away. Just a short car journey away is the Queenswood Country Park and Arboretum, ideal for an afternoon stroll or bike ride, plus nature lovers will appreciate the 47-acre tree collection with rare and exotic trees. Within the area there are several picturesque National Trust properties, including Berrington Hall, Croft Castle and Parkland, plus some unique attractions like the Monkland Cheese Dairy, a working dairy producing and selling local, artisan cheeses. Ludlow is eight miles away and offers a variety of amenities, including a range of well-established restaurants, independent shops and a farmers market, along with some must see attractions such as the historical ruins of Ludlow Castle, Whitcliffe Common Nature Reserve and Ludlow Museum. The Cart Barn ticks all the boxes for a refreshing countryside escape with your better half.

The flourishing village of Yarpole is situated in the lovely Herefordshire countryside, halfway between Ludlow and Leominster. Yarpole has an award-winning village shop, the first full-time shop in a church, as mentioned in the Doomesday Book. Bircher Common, a lowland heath with excellent views of the neighbouring Marches and ideal for enjoying the calm and tranquillity of the area, is just a short walk from the settlement. Enjoy an afternoon visit to the Monkland Cheese Dairy, which is a working dairy that produces and sells local, artisan cheeses and has a well-stocked shop and cafe. Perfect location for walks around the area and lots to see and do in the vicinity. We were unlucky in that the pub was closed during our stay but can imagine that when open, it makes this location an even better place to stay.

We had a great time despite the weather and are looking forward to returning in the future. Simon and Julia.
