Head to Ross on Wye, where you can treat your loved ones to a tasty meal at one of the many delightful eateries, including Man of Ross, Leonards at 39 or the Kings Arms, wander through the Thomas Blake Memorial Garden, catch a live performance at The Phoenix Theatre or peruse the local art at Made in Ross. Be sure to visit Symonds Yat, where you can spot the local wildlife at the nature reserves of Miners Rest and White Rocks or climb the renowned Symonds Yat Rock which offers breath-taking views at its top. Historic market town Ross-on-Wye is about 7 miles distant from Goodrich Castle, an example of a 12th century "Marcher Castle" in rural Herefordshire's Herefordshire countryside. The 17th-century Market Hall is surrounded by Tudor-style buildings, and the town's shops, taverns, and restaurants have something for everyone. Take a leisurely stroll along the river's banks, a river cruise, or a hot-air balloon ride to take in the surrounding scenery.

Symonds Yat, Hay-on-Wye, the Black Mountains, and the Forest of Dean are all great day outings from Herefordshire.
