About this property

A perfect family house and excellent base from which to explore South Devon

New Station House is a brand new build which is full of light and exceptionally spacious, located in an enviable position overlooking the famous steam locomotive line that links Paignton and Kingswear.

This is an attractive and well-presented family holiday home from home with four large bedrooms and a generous open plan living area. The ground floor double bedroom has an en suite bathroom making the house particularly well suited to any family members with limited mobility.

There’s a lovely outside patio space for guests to enjoy whilst occasionally waving to the passengers aboard the authentic steam carriages as they’re pulled or pushed by Ivor the engine and his friends. This proximity to the heritage railway adds to the experience of holidaying at New Station House, and the sight and sound of the occasional passing steam trains are always a welcome distraction.

Young’s park is an exceptionally pleasant public family park and the entrance is only 100 meters away from Station House. The park is perfect for the young and the young at heart and has a lovely boating lake, spacious picnic areas, play grounds and a popular café / brasserie overlooking the clean and pet friendly beach. The level walk along the paved promenade is also wonderful in the morning or evening and forms part of the famous South West Coast Path.

New Station House can also be booked with Platform One and Station House situated next door, to accommodate up to 20 guests.

We were a group of adults staying in this lovely property in Paignton. The location was perfect, being a short walk away from the beach and into the town. It was also easily accessible to most local attractions by car. The property itself was well provisioned for and had pretty much everything we needed for the stay. The TV had access to things like Netflix, if you have your own account, as well as a wide selection of DVDs if you want to stay in one evening. We also found a small BBQ on the patio, which we made use of on our final night. The only (very minor!) grumbles were about a lack of sharp kitchen knifes but given how well provisioned the kitchen was, we all got over it pretty quickly. Whilst you are right next to the railway line there is relatively little noise, except for the steam train that runs sparsely during the day. The steam train is an absolute must as everyone in our group really enjoyed it, including a fantastic river cruise along the River Dart. There's plenty to do around Paignton and in the case of bad weather, the property was so well equipped we wouldn't have minded staying in. Whilst we were an all adult group, the property is also well set-up for families and the single bed rooms had access to toys, books and games. Off-road parking was available and we managed to get 3 (smallish) cars onto the drive with ease.
