Gifted by William the Conqueror to one of his knights and recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086, this remarkable Elizabethan manor spans nearly a millennium of history. Steeped in this heritage, Flemings Hall is a rare opportunity to stay in a true medieval moated manor, once home to the Bedingfield family for over 900 years. Its oak-panelled rooms and extraordinary Great Hall of 1306 still echo with the stories of knights, royalty and notable figures, set beneath soaring beams and remarkable craftsmanship. With medieval foundations and a fusion of architectural detail and elegant interiors, it offers a unique place to gather, celebrate and unwind in a setting that feels both timeless and deeply atmospheric.
Inside, generous living spaces invite both relaxation and connection. The Great Hall, with its grand fireplace and piano, is made for long evenings by the fire, while the drawing room and cinema provide quieter corners to retreat to. The kitchen is fully equipped for sociable cooking, complemented by flexible dining spaces that cater for everything from intimate breakfasts to larger group meals of up to twenty-two guests in the Summer House. Across the first and second floors are six individually styled bedrooms, each rich in character and history. The Leigh, Black Prince and Olivier Bedrooms form the principal sleeping quarters, complemented by a dedicated children’s bunk bedroom and a family bathroom with freestanding iron bath and separate shower. Higher still, the Bucks Fizz and Conran Bedrooms continue the house’s narrative of creative ownership, with an additional bathroom and a second, more intimate cinema room completing the upper floors. The Star Bedroom is located within the separate Summer House, offering a private, self-contained retreat for guests seeking added independence within the wider estate.
Beyond the house, the lifestyle offering is just as compelling. Spend summer days by the heated swimming pool, unwind in the sauna and ice bath, or enjoy slow afternoons exploring five acres of landscaped gardens designed for both relaxation and play. The Summer House itself provides a striking space for entertaining, while the fully equipped dojo offers something truly unique for fitness or mindful practice. With its blend of historic character, extensive facilities and complete privacy, Flemings Hall creates an unforgettable setting for special gatherings, restorative escapes and memorable shared moments.
