About this property

The period cottage is set next to the picture-postcard stream, in the medieval village of Lavenham. Sleeping four guests, the property makes a great base for couples and small families seeking peace and tranquillity. Spend time pottering amongst the historic buildings in the village and exploring the local footpaths, or head into the bustling town of Bury St Edmunds, 12.5 miles away.

The 17th-century former grain barn is full of rustic charm, with an exposed timber frame, original fireplace, and mullion windows. The unique home is deceptively spacious, providing ample room for everyone to spread out and relax. There is a large lounge with comfortable seating, a cosy wood burner-effect gas fire, and a TV, and you’ll also find a snug for curling up with a book after a long walk. Spend time in the quirky kitchen/diner rustling up tasty meals, to enjoy at the breakfast table or in the formal dining room. The two bedrooms are upstairs, along with a handy office area on the landing. One of the bedrooms has an en-suite shower room, and there’s also a family bathroom. Please note, due to the property’s age, you may experience restricted head height on the first floor. There is no outside space, but with multiple footpaths branching away from the village, you’ll have plenty of choice when it comes to your morning walk.

A stroll around Lavenham is like stepping back in time, with its preserved medieval buildings and quaint, narrow streets. The village has a thriving community, and you’ll find many independent shops, cafes, and restaurants. Set in the heart of the Suffolk countryside, there are many tracks and trails to explore through the surrounding woodlands and fields. Just 12.5 miles away is Bury St Edmunds, with its fantastic restaurants, beautiful abbey gardens, and stunning cathedral.

Beautiful cottage, well equipped and very close to the town centre. Spotlessly clean and very comfortable beds. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

A beautiful spacious rental within walking distance of the countryside and local pubs and shops

Low comfort score as we had no hot water for all of the stay, so no shower or bath available.Maintenance unable to fix the fault on the boiler. The barn was lovely and well equipped and in a super area. What a shame about the boiler. We couldn't wait to get home, not keen on cold water washes.
