"This property has recently been added - customer comments will appear here soon."
"This cottage is lovely and has everything you could need. It is really comfortable and warm. The welcome pack was a real treat and the fresh eggs great. The neighbours cat was an extra bonus. We enjoyed the Gladstone pottery museum and the Blue John mine. Leek has all the shops and amenities needed."
"Great place. Really quiet. Well appointed and very clean. Relaxing and enjoyable stay"
"This was an excellent cottage for a family holiday. The bedroom and bathroom arrangements exactly suited a group of five adults and one baby. The cottage had excellent equipment and comforts throughout, all of which we enjoyed to the full. The owners, John and Barbara, were very welcoming and helpful with information about the area. Given all of their efforts to provide a comfortable and relaxing holiday cottage I would certainly recommend Oldfield Barn to anyone thinking of visiting this area."
"The best cottage we have ever rented and this covers a number in the holiday business."
"Loved our stay at the cottage. Lot's of extra touches which make it outstanding, like the throws to snuggle up with, candles, welcome food pack, basket of logs, lovely hot water. This cottage has a real high end feel to it. Can thoroughly recommend staying at Oldfield Barn - just wish we had longer, would love to return at some point, as it is in a great location and I'd like to explore more."
"We absolutely loved the cottage and the owners had thought of everything that could be needed. It was situated in an area where there is so much to do it's hard to fit it all in. We had two young children with us and everything was perfect for them. I have no problem recommending Oldfield Barn to those who like to do activities every day but enjoy returning to a peaceful have full of wildlife. We loved watching the ducks and squirrels each day,"
"This property really did have everything we could possibly have needed and the welcome pack was a lovely touch. The cottage has a decent amount of space and the rooms are comfortable and well-furnished. My son loved the opportunity to play football in the owners' field. We enjoyed the location, with time spent in the Peak District, as well as spending a few days at Alton Towers."
"I really love this cottage, it's so relaxing as a place to stay and has everything you could want. The owners as so lovely and the location is perfect for walking."
"A beautiful cottage with everything we needed. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful and provided a welcome pack of eggs, cereal, milk, butter, bread and biscuits. Watching the wildlife from the cottage window was a bonus!"

"Everything we needed for a memorable traditional Christmas - all that was missing was the snow and frosty weather. Lovely log burner and tasteful decorations added to the festivities."
"Fabulous cottage, one of the best I've stayed in."
"Probably the best holiday cottage we have stayed in (and we have stayed in many). The cottage was very well equipped and extremely comfortable, and there was a splendid welcome pack. Barbara and John, the owners, were very friendly. The cottage is deep in the countryside but not too far from Leek, Cheddleton, Rudyard Lake and the western Derbyshire Peak District."
"This is one of the best cottages we have stayed in, and we would definitely recommend it to our friends. Everything we needed was provided, and the owners gave us a warm welcome after a long journey. It was lovely to look out at the different birds on the bird feeder whilst having a leisurely breakfast, chatting to the resident ducks, and the paddock was also a huge plus for the boys - they had great fun on the rope swing and playing football."
"We had a wonderful holiday, thank you. On arrival we received a welcome pack of fresh eggs, bread, butter, milk etc. The accommadation felt like home immediately, it was set up as if someone lived there, there was everything you would need. The setting was lovely and my granddaughters' loved the daily visit from the ducks, ( which they named). The sheep had recently had lambs and of course this was a bonus to the girls. We were a couple of miles from Leek, which was very handy. It was also very close to Alton Towers, so needless to say, that was good also. Set in the countryside and so close to many attractions. The cottage was ideal for families and couples alike. A very big Thank you to John, Barbara and Jonathan, we couldn't have asked for a better holiday home and friendlier people."
"Excellent - quite simply the best holiday cottage we've ever stayed in."
"Fabulous holiday cottage. Beautify clean and furnished. Owners very helpful."
"Wonderful cottage in a peaceful location surrounded by countryside with a wealth of wildlife to enjoy. Comfortable and well thought through its a fantastic place to base yourself when in the Peak District."
    "Terrific, just terrific."

"Heating took us a bit to work out. "
"Beautiful cottage in wonderful location. Stay was made all the more enjoyable with the care provided by the charming owners. We certainly wouldn't hesitate to reccomend the cottage to others and will definitely be booking again ourselves."
"Lovely place, helpful friendly hosts, really nice part of the country. Highly recommended to come here, you won't be disappointed."
"Lovely owners who are very helpful, the cottage had everything we needed even dishwasher tablets and washing tablets. milk and bread was left for us and a bottle of wine. My 5 and 6 year old loved playing outside in the playhouse which had plastic cups and plates for them to play with they even had a little park just outside the gate, the pond was well out of the way. They have plenty of wood for the wood burner we lit it every night and the cottage was nice and warm with the radiators heating it up as well. It can be difficult to find as our satnav said we had reached our destination but it was a few hundred yards further on, and it is down narrow country lanes. would definitely stay again its ideal location if you want a few days at alton towers like we did."
"We really enjoyed our stay at Oldfield Barn. The house is very comfortable - a real home from home. The owners, John and Barbara are lovely people and welcome you warmly. They leave you a welcome pack which includes milk and bread - as well as biscuits! There are other little touches of thoughtfulness throughout the house, esp the great bath sheets. There are lovely views of the Peak District from most of the windows. Our boys loved playing football and using the rope swing in the paddock. The hens were very friendly too. The Barn is in a great location - handy for adventures at Alton Towers as well as a quick drive to the Peak District and to nearby shops in Leek. We visited The Roaches (4 miles north of Leek) which had fantastic rock formations and walks, Alton Towers, Kedleston Hall, Dovedale, the Manifold Valley, Edale, Castleton and Chatsworth. A busy but relaxing and enjoyable week. Thanks!"
"Really good cottage with absolutely everything you could need and helpful owners nearby ready to give tips and advice if you want it. Two bathrooms and three toilets meant low stress mornings and bedtimes! Location superb, close to many attractions and in lovely countryside. We were really impressed by Leek itself - a proper little town with splendid shops. I hope to return to this area and would certainly go back to the Oldfield Barn if it were available. "
