Inglenook cottage is a 300-year-old Grade II listed property nestled in the heart of medieval Salisbury. Quaint and cosy, with a wealth of beams and original features, Inglenook Cottage makes the perfect choice for couples or groups of four seeking a characterful and historic holiday in this ancient city. Salisbury boasts a magnificent cathedral, museums and twice weekly charter market, as well as shops, bars and leisure activities, all a short walk from the property. The ancient castle of Old Sarum is a slightly further walk and a short drive away are Wilton House and grounds and the World Heritage Site of Stonehenge. As you enter the charming living room your eyes are drawn to the cottage’s namesake, the large Inglenook fireplace, festooned with dried hops. The well-equipped kitchen is divided from the living room by a breakfast bar and dining table. A door leads out to the pretty shared courtyard, where you can sit and relax with a glass of wine on warmer nights or dine alfresco. A spiral staircase leads you to the first floor where you will find the bathroom, and master bedroom with king sized bed and pretty fireplace. Winding up to the second floor is the twin-bedded attic room, a perfect hideout, boasting views of the cathedral spire; Britain's tallest spire! Salisbury makes the perfect holiday base at any time of the year, its 13th-century Gothic cathedral being just one of many historic delights awaiting to be discovered in the city, with Salisbury Museum making the perfect place to learn about its deep past. Explore the quaint streets of the city, its half-timbered buildings hosting traditional pubs, wonderful restaurants and plenty of shops to while away the hours in, as well as there being a twice-weekly market where you can pick up some fresh produce for a romantic meal at Inglenook Cottage. Take a scenic stroll along the Town Path past the water meadows, where you can view the Cathedral as Constable did in his famous painting. End your evening immersed in the city's vibrant arts scene, with one of the country's leading repertory theatres, a lively arts centre, and cinema in ancient merchants hall with minstrel gallery. Spend a day in the port city of Southampton where you'll find a wide range of attractions to suit all ages and tastes or visit the historic docks of Portsmouth.
