About this property

A cosy harbourside bolthole overlooking the vibrant fishing town of Brixham

This cosy harbourside bolthole overlooks the water in the vibrant fishing town of Brixham. Spend your days dipping in and out of the many cafes and restaurants in the town or watching the boats bob on the water, and your evenings sipping a glass of fizz on the waterside balcony back at your home from home.

Inside, this truly relaxing romantic retreat has been beautifully furnished throughout. On the ground floor, the stylish open-plan kitchen/dining area has French doors onto the front and rear courtyards, offering ample opportunity to dine alfresco and soak up the sea breeze. It’s well equipped with everything you might need to rustle up a romantic meal and also has a cute dining table for candlelit dinners. Head upstairs to the bedroom and bathroom on the first floor, both decorated in a refined, cottage style for ultimate relaxation. Up on the second floor, the living room makes the most of the fabulous harbour views which are best enjoyed from the balcony, which floods the room with light.

Brixham has a good range of shops, cafes and restaurants, making it one of the most popular spots on the South Devon coast; this cottage puts you at the heart of it all, with the centre within 400 metres. Further afield, Torquay (8.5 miles) was a favourite of the Victorian era with grand regency crescents lined with townhouses. Today, it has a vibrant waterfront with its marina and harbour – stroll along the palm-lined promenade and visit the seafront gardens. Paignton Zoo (5.5 miles) is well regarded for its wildlife conservation efforts with an impressive collection including a Komodo dragon. Or, head inland and explore the Dartmoor National Park (18 miles) with its tors and myriad walking trails.

In the months of May through to November why not attend one of the many events and festivals in the area like the Brixham Pirate Festival, England's Seafood Feast, Lanterns, lights & 'luminations, Dartmouth Music Festival, Dartmouth Royal Regatta, Dartmouth Food Festival, Torbay Air Show, Teignmouth Air show, Devon County Show.

This was an 'on the spur' week's escape for me, and Jasmine Cottage fitted my needs very well indeed. A quirky but nicely decorated and equipped little cottsge .. terrific light sitting room on the top floor with super views (I'm 70 years old, but didn't mind the steps - both within the cottage and to get to it!) Carparking in the town park was easy enough .. and, there's a short cut back along the seafront (agency note to let guests know about this!) which takes only a few minutes. Everything I needed for my short break was there. Brixham is an interesting and attractive little port and town and within easy reach of other places well worth a visit.

We have had a wonderful week here. A very relaxing, chilled out time. Lovely walks, enjoying all of the views that Brixham has to offer. The cottage is great. Everything we could possibly need is here for a comfortable time. For great food we would recommend the Lytehouse Restaurant. We will defiantly be back in the future.

Very enjoyable stay in this "cosy quirky little cottage", with everything you could want and more. We had a lovely coastal walk to "Berry Head", had a drink on the patio at the Berry head hotel with spectacular views. "Rockfish restaurant" is very nice on a summers evening. Had a lovely day in Babbacombe round the Model Village, Excellent display. Recommended pubs: Thatch inn: Maidencombe Manor Inn: Galmpton. All excellent food. Really enjoyed our stay and hope to come back.
