No smoking. Please note: This property has a natural water supply via spring.. Welcome to The Moat House, a truly beautiful, thatched country cottage set in the heart of the Somerset countryside.
Newly renovated in 2022 in a way that is sympathetic to the age of the cottage yet packed full of modern features and your creature comforts, this cottage has it all. On the ground floor you will find the fabulous kitchen that comes extremely well equipped with fridge/freezer, dishwasher,and electric hob, as well as everything you will need during your stay. The utility room has a microwave, washing machine and tumble dryer, leading off from here is the downstairs shower room with walk-in shower.
The stunning dining room has original oak panelled walls and beamed ceilings, while the living room has dual aspect windows, beams, comfy seating and electric wood burner. Upstairs you will find three spacious bedrooms, one being a twin and the other two having king sized beds, the master bedroom has wonderful views over the fields beyond. The bathroom has a bath with shower over and heated towel rail.
Outside you will find a glorious lawned garden with amazing countryside views to sit back and enjoy, while to the rear you will find a partially covered barn with your own hot tub and games area, it’s the perfect spot for all the family to relax and have fun!
The Moat House is set in the hamlet of Cudworth, just a few miles from both Chard and Ilminster towns, both with a mix of shops and local eateries to enjoy. The larger towns of Yeovil and Taunton are easily reached in under 30 minutes where a larger selection of shops and entertainment can be found. Several National Trust properties can be found nearby as well as country parks such as Ham Hill and Castle Neroche. Lyme Regis beach is just over 20 minutes away by car and is a great day out for all the family!

Our first Christmas with no ‘believers’ so we wanted to create some new traditions and magic. We certainly did that. The cottage is spacious yet warm and cosy. The welcoming extra were appreciated. The cottage is well equipped, beds comfy, hot tub and games barn a real bonus. Beautifully decorated for Christmas. It’s quiet and remote, which is what we wanted, however within an hours drive we visited Langford lakes lights and Mendip activity centre (for tobogganing). Chard village is close by and within easy distance is Perry’s cider.A truly magical stay. We wanted to book again for next Christmas but it was already booked!

Amazing place from top to bottom, very clean and tidy. The converted barn with the hot tub was incredible. Very queit and peaceful area. Would highly recommend staying here. We will definitely be staying again in the future.
