The charming market town of Ilminster is settled in the countryside of south west Somerset and named after both the River Lle and the Minster church. Ilminster was a vital staging post for travellers during the Victorian times with north-south and east-west routes. The peaceful town is home to a great selection of shops, including the traditional drapers, Dyers, as well as Meeting House Arts Centre showcasing unique art. The 15th century Minster offers a combination of ancient architecture with contemporary glass doors at the front; this building is a must see for those visiting Ilminster. Spend the day sampling cider where you can watch and learn how it's made at Perry's Cider Mill in Dowlish Wake. A wealth of amenities can be found in Ilminster, including a post office, supermarket, a library and a great selection of local shops. The picturesque village of Barrington is just under 4 miles away or head to Montacute and Corton Denham to see more of what South Somerset has to offer.
