The Forge is a charming, dog-friendly cottage in a tranquil rural setting, ideal for those seeking peace, countryside walks, and a warm welcome. Guests consistently praise the comfortable bed, well-equipped kitchen, and thoughtful touches for both humans and pets. The local village shop and friendly host add to the appeal. While some mention minor maintenance and cleanliness issues, the overall experience is relaxing and enjoyable, with beautiful views and easy access to local attractions.
Most guests found the cottage clean and tidy, especially considering it is dog-friendly. However, a few reviews noted areas needing improvement, such as crumbs in drawers, cobwebs, and an unclean oven. These were outweighed by positive comments about general cleanliness.
The rural, peaceful location is highly praised, with easy access to countryside walks and nearby attractions. Some guests mention narrow lanes and the remote setting, but these are generally seen as part of the cottage's charm.
The bed receives frequent compliments for comfort, and the cottage is described as cosy and restful. Some guests found one of the sofas less comfortable, but overall, the property is considered a relaxing retreat.
The cottage is well-equipped, especially for dog owners, and has everything needed for a comfortable stay. A few guests noted maintenance issues such as tired paintwork, a non-working bathroom fan, and a garden needing attention, but these did not detract significantly from the overall experience.
Guests appreciated thoughtful touches such as treats for both themselves and their dogs, and the friendly, helpful host. Some received home-grown produce and chocolate biscuits, though it should be noted these gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.

When we got to our destination we met our host her name is Barbara. Barbara is a very nice lady and she works very hard which means she is not always available. My wife and I had a wonderful time at the forge every day we went out. All the places that we went to was close and within driven distance. For example we went to Lyme Regis this is about 45minets away. We recommend you take coffee tea salt pepper and toilet rolls as not a lot there. My wife and I loved it there and definitely would go there again. Look out for the little swallowsYou will see them out the back whereSeating area is. Beautiful 😊

The Forge is the perfect place to stay for a countryside escape. We were welcomed with treats for ourselves and our dog and amazed by the cleanlines on arrival, especially given this is a dog-friendly stay. The bed is large and comfortable, and there are many suggested walk routes provided in the binder, which we made use of. Would absolutely recommend.
