About this property

Perfectly situated for exploring the delights of South Somerset and Dorset beyond, Round House Cottage is a stone-built, Grade II Listed cottage, ideally located just steps away from the attractive High Street in pretty Castle Cary, facing the historic Round House on Bailey Hill.

Castle Cary is a small and attractive market town, set on the edge of rolling green countryside, close to the Somerset Levels, Blackmore Vale and the Mendip Hills. Surrounded by numerous quaint villages and within easy reach of the ever-popular city of Bath, Round House Cottage is a stylish and comfortable base for your holiday adventures.

The cottage is styled with a blend of modern and original features and offers plenty of space for up to four guests. The original tiled hallway leads through to a front facing study and then through to the cosy sitting room with its wood burning stove. The modern, spacious kitchen is well-appointed with a range cooker, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave, Nespresso coffee machine and washing machine. The kitchen leads through to the dining room, featuring an original flagstone floor, dining table and seating for six guests. Upstairs are two comfortable king-size bedrooms, one with its own en-suite shower room and there is also a family bathroom featuring a free-standing bath and double walk-in shower enclosure. The third bedroom is set up as a yoga/retreat room for guests to enjoy some quiet meditation.

The front of the cottage looks out across Bailey Hill and directly at what was the original town “lock-up” built in 1779. The roof is said to be the inspiration for the shape of the Police helmet. The Market Place and High Street with an array of shops, restaurants and cafes is just a short stroll away. The Newt, a working country estate with magnificent woodland and gardens; along with Hauser and Wirth Garden and Gallery at Bruton, are just five-minutes drive away.
