The property generally maintains good cleanliness, with one review suggesting it could have been a bit cleaner. Most guests, however, did not raise any concerns about cleanliness.
The location is praised for its quietness and proximity to wildlife, with easy access to Stroud and nearby villages. The presence of a busy local pub indicates a favourable location.
Comfort receives mixed reviews; while the property is described as cosy, some guests find it cramped and suggest that the bedroom ceiling is low, impacting the comfort level.

There is a large decking area right in front, with table and chairs, where you can enjoy the expansive views over the Slad Valley. Deer, foxes and badgers are always visiting so you should have plenty of close-up photo opportunities of these charming creatures. The gardens are a labour of love by the owners who have restored since 2014, what was an overgrown wilderness, into a thing of beauty. Steps lead down from the decking to a lawned area. At the bottom of the stone steps is a picnic table, ideal for dining beneath the stars.
If you can tear yourself away, the area is full of attractions for interesting days out. The Hazeling Hideaway lies amidst The Cotswold countryside and is close to Stroud and Painswick. Located not far from where poet Laurie Lee was brought up, you can walk in his footsteps by following the Laurie Lee Wildlife Way which takes in four Nature Reserves. The trail is marked by wooden posts carved with the famous author’s poems. Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust owns four beautiful nature reserves in the Slad Valley called Frith Wood, Snows Farm, Swifts Hill and, thanks to a very successful fundraising appeal, the new Laurie Lee Wood. People come from all over Europe to see the beauty of these valleys. The area is a magnet for walkers, explorers, and cyclists. This is a place you will want to return to again and again. Pub within a mile.

Very quiet place, you wake up and can see deer, squirrels and rabbits. We liked the welcome pack with grapes, milk, croissants and jam. The host was very friendly and ready to help. Parking is a bit of an adventure but you get used to it quickly. The lack of storage space is a real drawback, maybe one shelf could make a difference. Reading on the couch is a bit difficult, one standard lamp would be a good idea. Please read and look carefully before you complain about banging your head on the bedroom ceiling. English is not my native language - but I was able to understand it.

It is a cosy, surprising and nice place to stay and discover the local area. The chalet is adequately equipped and works out well for two persons. The only remark is that there is very limited storing space, so our suitcases were placed in the living area.
