Bengough's Annexe in Berkeley is a characterful and tranquil cottage that offers a peaceful stay with comfortable beds, a well-equipped kitchen, and a warm atmosphere despite its historic stone build. Guests appreciate the cleanliness, the spacious accommodation, and the charm of the property, along with the welcoming nature of the owner, Hazel.
Guests consistently note the cottage's cleanliness, describing it as 'really clean' and 'clean and tidy upon arrival', indicating a high standard of cleanliness throughout the property.
The location is praised for its tranquillity and seclusion, with great walks directly from the door and a good position for local amenities, suggesting a highly satisfactory location for a peaceful retreat.
The property is commended for its comfortable beds and recliner sofas. However, the mention of a preference for a king-size bed in the master bedroom suggests room for improvement in this area.
Facilities are generally well-received, with a well-equipped kitchen and ample parking. However, comments about slow Wi-Fi, a preference for a more efficient wood burner, and the suggestion for a torch during power outages indicate some areas could be enhanced.
While guests find the property well-equipped and welcoming, there are no specific mentions of gifts or additional thoughtful touches provided by the host, so it is not possible to assess this category.

The cottage is full of character in a very tranquil location. Hazel very approachable and helpful. A lovely new kitchen which is well equipped. Lovely recliner sofas and comfortable beds. Please note though that the Wi-Fi is very slow probably due to the thick stone walls and we were relying mostly on our 4GAlso the property details do state about the low ceiling downstairs. Just to clarify this point if you are shorter than 5’ 7” you’ll be ok. Any taller you may bang your head on the beams, if you are over 6’ you’ll only be able to stand up straight in the downstairs part of the property in a couple of places.
