Riverside town on the confluence of the River Severn and the River Avon, with an abundance of half-timbered Tudor buildings preserving its mediaeval character. There are over 350 historic buildings in a conservation area in Tewkesbury, which makes it one of the best examples of a mediaeval black and white townscape in the country.

An abbey dating back to the twelfth century with the highest Norman tower in England is among the town's many attractions, as are several museums and a Heritage Centre. Throughout the year, the town hosts farmers' markets, music festivals, and vintage and food fairs. Many beautiful walks can be taken from the town, with the Severn Way and Shakespeare's Avon Way just a short distance away. There is a thriving regency spa town called Cheltenham nearby that features beautiful Georgian architecture and a wide range of entertainment options for tourists. Aside from film and music, there are also literary, jazz, science, cricket, food, and comedy festivals to attend in this energetic city! Numerous other horse racing events are held at the racetrack throughout the year in addition to the world-renowned Gold Cup.

There are Roman ruins, a Victorian dockland, a magnificent Norman cathedral, the cloisters of which were used in the Harry Potter films, and a bustling city centre in Gloucester's historic city centre.

For a day out in the Cotswolds you can visit the magnificent Royal Forest of Dean, Slimbridge Wetland Centre, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick and many other unspoilt Cotswold villages.
