Overall, The Cart Arms is a good space for a large group to have a weekend away. There were 3 couples and 4 little ones in our party and we had plenty of space to hang out. The hot tub was great, as was the use of the bbq. We were in walking distance to a shop, a garden centre with a cafe and the pub. Plus lots of walks from the door into the county side. Now onto the negatives, unfortunately: it was pretty dirty when we arrived, there were minimal toilet rolls for a party of our size, and even more minimal basic things like cooking oil, salt & pepper etc, there was wood for the hottub but no firelighter or anything else. Some beds are described as super king but definitely don’t seem to be and some of the mattresses are very old and uncomfortable. The light on the mirror in the en-suite also flickers on and off all day and night… despite this being reported before. We just felt that for what we paid, it didn’t quite live up to expectations sadly.

We were really happy with our family +2 dog stay, the location was perfect to explore the surrounding area. The enclosed garden was great to contain the dogs whilst we were in the hot tub. The helpful manual in the property indicated attractions and Restaurants, etc. It may need updating as the Yew Tree was great for food. It took a few days to get hold of the manager to say some essential items were missing, thankfully not expensive items so we just purchased them...i.e. corkscrew, and a fire lighter for hot tub and BBQ. We were then offered reimbursement by the owner, thank you. We would possibly pick another property on site next time, to get a table tennis table.

Great location for exploring the Forest of Dean. It’s a beautiful barn and we loved the decor. The bedrooms were nice and clean and the kitchen was well stocked. The only thing missing was an airer to hang up wet clothes and one of the pans was not compatible with the hob. The mirror light in the on suite bathroom turned on and off in the night but easily fixed if you just kept the bathroom door shut. The hot tub was fab and a nice touch that they provided one lot of wood to use. We loved our time at the Cart Arms and would definitely stay here again.
