Guests say

The Lock House in Gloucester is a characterful property praised for its excellent location near the Quays and city centre, offering a mix of heritage and convenience. Guests appreciate the secure parking, pet-friendly environment, and the charm of the cottage. While some noted the need for maintenance and TLC, the overall experience is positive with many looking forward to returning.

Most guests found the cottage clean and comfortable, with spotless bedding and towels. However, some mentioned issues with shower cleanliness and a full vacuum cleaner, suggesting room for improvement in this area.

The cottage's location is highly praised for its proximity to Gloucester Quays, city centre, and countryside. It offers a balance of urban convenience and scenic charm, making it an ideal base for exploration.

Guests generally found the cottage comfortable, with good-sized bedrooms and efficient heating. Some concerns were raised about lumpy pillows and the steepness of the stairs, but overall comfort was satisfactory.

The property is appreciated for its well-equipped kitchen and secure parking. However, guests noted maintenance issues with showers, plumbing, and the need for a fresh coat of paint, indicating that the facilities could be enhanced.

While guests mentioned welcome touches like fresh flowers and a welcome pack, there is not enough consistent information about thoughtfulness in the form of gifts to accurately score this category. It should be noted that such gestures, while appreciated, are not guaranteed.

With lovely walks and the many and varied amenities on the refurbished Gloucester Quays and an easy short walk to the city centre. The property itself is “tired” and in need of some real TLC. We recognise the age of the property and loved its quirkiness, but some decoration and particular attention to the shower units draining well are essential.

Lots of place to eat and drink, close to centre of Gloucester and still near to the countryside.
