About this property

A charming, fresh cottage that sits wonderfully in the village of Bream in Gloucestershire. Pippins, originally built in 1814, is a traditionally built two up two down stone cottage that has been sensitively extended whilst preserving the best of the old world charm. Pippins is well-decorated and comes in a location with so much to do, it is perfect for a fun family holiday. You have a choice of sitting rooms with this property, both come with comfortable seating and are ideal spots to sit and relax when you're not out exploring what this thriving area has to offer. The fitted kitchen diner is spacious and tastefully decorated, providing all of the essential equipment along with a fantastic oil-fired Rayburn. The ground floor of Pippins also has a bright and fresh conservatory with seating, and a spacious shower room with a baby changing counter, perfect for families. The first floor is accessed via a staircase, typical for a stone cottage of this period, being a bit steeper and narrower than the more modern variety and boasts three pleasant bedrooms, all with delightful bed linen and one with a stylish en-suite shower room. The garden that comes with Pippins is an excellent spot to sit in the sun, you have the choice of the brilliant lawn brimming with fruit trees, or a patio area with a picnic bench where you can enjoy a refreshing drink or even alfresco dining.Pippins overlooks a pleasant grassy field right next to the Forest of Dean which was once a royal hunting ground. Sheep and wild boar roam free in the Forest so care should be taken when driving in the area. The village of Bream is the ideal place to have your holiday, it offers the usual shops, restaurants and cafés, as well as activities such as caving, abseiling and a high ropes course are available. Nearby there is the Wye Valley AONB, offering fantastic opportunities and natural beauty, the stunning River Severn is also nearby. Pippins is a fantastic cottage in a beautiful location.

The village of Bream offers views of the Royal Forest of Dean and the Cotswold Hills. Clearwell with its caves and caverns and the village of St Briavels with its castle are close by. The Royal Forest of Dean, England's largest oak forest, offers trails that can be explored on foot, bicycle or horseback. Caving, abseiling and a high wire rope course are for the more adventurous, whilst fishing, golf, kayaking and canoeing are other popular activities in the area. Just a short drive away is the town of Ross-on-Wye, with timbered Tudor houses, excellent shops, pubs and restaurants all in the heart of rural Herefordshire. This unspoilt area has something to offer all tastes at any time of the year.

Facilities were very good, every thing you could want for a stay. Master bedroom is large and beds are very comfortable, plenty of extra bedding and towels. Kitchen is large and has everything you could need. There's 3 bedrooms, a sitting/games room, lounge, kitchen , laundry+ room and conservatory. Every thing was very clean. Lovely location for forest walks. I managed to blow a fuse by plugging in a faulty charger, the owner answered my call straight away and told me where the consumer unit was, so sorted. My one small comment would be there is only one en suite in the master bedroom, so other guest would have to go downstairs to use the toilet downstairs in the laundry/shower/toilet room or go into the master bedroom. Not a problem for us as only 2 of us stayed. Once again I have to say we loved your cottage and certainly recommend it thank you.

Clean and with good quality furnishings. Lots of space. Ideally located for the Forest of Dean Mountain Bike centre which is a 4 mile cycle from pippins , mostly off road, and the cottage also has a garage for bike storage.
